Ishpeming Bands Grading Procedures for Phelps Beginning Band


Band Grades Are Earned by Participation and Achievement

	
    
		
  1. Students will earn a Participation Grade, 10pts./day, based on classroom participation 
		
  2. Students will earn a Practice Grade
		
      
			
    1. 75 min. Each week is required for 25 pts.
			
    2. 8 weeks will be graded. 
			
    3. For each 15 min. Of practice, a student will earn 5 pts. For example, if a student practices 60 min. One week, he will have earned 20 pts. Out of 25.
			
    4. 10 pts. Of extra credit may be earned for an extra 30 min. Or more Of weekly practice
		
    
		
  3. Students will earn a Performance Grade based on achievement on playing quizzes.
		
  4. Students will earn a Music Theory Grade based on achievement on written assignments.
		
  5. Students will earn an Organization Grade based on accountability for equipment and music.
	


Ishpeming Bands Grading Procedures for 6, 7&8 Bands


Band Grades Are Earned by Participation and Achievement

	
    
		
  1. Students will earn a Participation Grade, 10 pts./day, based on classroom participation.
		
  2. Students will earn a Performance Grade based on achievement on playing quizzes.
		
  3. Students will earn a Music Theory Grade based on achievement on written assignments.
		
  4. Students will earn an Organization Grade based on accountability for equipment and music
		
  5. Extra credit may be earned by the following ways.
		
      
			
    1. 10 pts. For every 30 min. Of out-of-school practice
			
    2. 10 pts. For every 30 min. Of time donated to serving the band-work assigned by director.

Band Grades Are Earned by Participation and Achievement

	
    
		
  1. Students will earn a Participation Grade, 10 pts./day, based on classroom participation.
		
  2. Students will earn a Performance Grade based on achievement on playing quizzes .
		
  3. Students will earn a Music Theory Grade based on achievement on written assignments.
		
  4. Students will earn an Attendance Grade, 200 pts., based on attendance at scheduled performances (40%). For basketball games, 10 pts. Are earned for pregame, 10 pts. For halftime.
		
      
			
    1. There is no excuse for a missed performance. How can it be made up? An after school assignment will be given for each missed performance. 
		
    
		
  5. Students earn an Organization Grade, 50 pts., based on accountability for equipment & music.
		
  6. Extra credit may be earned by the following:
		
      
			
    1. 10 pts. For every 30 min of donated service to the band - worked assigned by director.
			
    2. 10 pts. For every 30 min. Of out-of -school practice.
		
    

    This is a listing of all currently scheduled performances. The indented, asterisk dates are the games we may not do.

		*Friday, November 30 - GBB Rep (20 pts.) (Honors Band Weekend)

		*Tuesday, December 4 - GBB MAN

	Friday, December 7 - BBB WW (20 pts.)

	Tuesday, December 11 - GBB WW (20 pts.)

Sunday, December 9-I.H.S. Band Concert @ 3:00 p.m.-Peterson Auditorium(100 pts.)


	The H.S. Band will perform a holiday concert for Central and Birchview schools to be scheduled. 	

	Friday, December 14 - H.S. Band performs @ Pioneer Bluff - 2:00 p.m. (10 pts.)

	Thursday, December 20 - GBB GWN (20 pts.)

		*Friday, December 28 - GBB NOR

	Thursday, January 3, 2008 - GBB IMT (20 pts.)

		*Saturday, January 5 - GBB SUP CEN

	Tuesday, Jan. 8 - BBB MAN (20 pts.)

	Thursday, Jan. 10 - BBB GWN (20 pts.)

	Monday, Jan. 14 - GBB NEG (20 pts.)

	
		
    
			
  • Meeting time and place for basketball games (unless otherwise stated) will be 6:45 p.m. In band room.
			
  • For basketball games, the band performs @ varsity pregame and half time.
			
  • Students may miss one basketball game (20 pts). The extra game can be used as extra credit.
