Frequently Asked Questions: This page contains answers to common questions of students and parents.
What should I do if my child is going home differently than usual?
PLEASE send a note to the teacher stating the change. We will send your child home as usual unless notified. Make sure your child knows of the change to avoid any anxious moments. Also, make sure those people your child is allowed to leave with are listed on the enrollment form in the office. Have the "Early Dismissal" plan on file at school in case school is unexpectedly dismissed early.Back to Top
What should I do if my child needs medication while at school?
Children are not allowed to transport medication to school by themselves. Please drop off any medication at the office in its original container with dosage information. You will also need to fill out the authorization sheet so the medication can be dispensed.Back to Top
Do I need to provide a birthday treat?
Birthday treats are strictly voluntary. If you choose to bring a treat, please make sure it is something that is easy for the teacher and child to serve. Cookies and cupcakes are always a favorite. It is not necessary to provide a treat for both Mrs. Eversole's room and Mrs. Pestel's room.Back to Top

We are using the Rebecca Sitton spelling program. Tests are given periodically but not weekly. In addition, a sample of a student's writing is evaluated to see if the core words are spelled correctly. We want spelling practice to transfer to the students daily writing. We are trying to produce everyday spellers and not just spelling test spellers.Back to Top
Do the children always go out for recess?
Children will always go out for recess unless weather conditions do not permit. Rain and extreme cold will keep us in. Please make sure your child has appropriate clothing for the weather conditions. Just like home, we don't want wet, muddy shoes/boots on our classroom carpet. Your child is welcome to bring a pair of slippers to keep at school and wear inside. Please note that your child should have clean, dry rubber-soled shoes on gym days. If you do not want your child to go out for recess due to a recent illness, please send a note. If you want your child in for several days, please provide a doctor's note stating the reason.Back to Top
Do you need help in the classroom?
YES!!! We welcome parents any time. We especially need help during reading. Guided Reading is scheduled daily 9:30-10:30. Please remember that you need to have a background check done BEFORE you come into the classroom. This can be done in one day. Contact Lisa Gomez our school secretary.Back to Top
