Lions Club Collection The school is once again participating in the Lions Club Christmas collection. We will be collecting canned or boxed food, toys, hats, and mittens to help the Lions Club fill baskets for the needy. The items should be dropped off in our classroom. Thank you in advance for your generosity Christmas Concert Please have your student report to our classroom by 6:45 p.m. on Thursday evening, December 10. I will get them to the gym while you enjoy the concert. Your student can be picked up in our room after the concert. Students may bring board games or books. However, no electronic devices are allowed. Christmas Gift Exchange In lieu of a student gift exchange this year, the class has decided to donate $5 per student to the Hiefer International Foundation. With the donations, an animal will be purchased and given to a community so they will be better able to provide themselves with the basic necessities of life. Thank you in advance for your generosity. Waterstone Community Center Field Trip Our fourth grade class has been asked by Mr. Brunett (Mrs. Coffin’s dad) to share some Christmas cheer with the residents of the Waterstone Community Center on December 9th. We will join in a short prayer service, and then entertain the residents with a few of our favorite Christmas carols. We will also join the residents in a Pizza lunch. We will be leaving the school at 10:30 a.m. and returning around 1:15 p.m. If you would like to volunteer to drive, please let me know how many people you can take in your car. I will also need a couple of volunteers to send desserts for us to share with the residents. Permission slips will be sent home on Monday. Thanks for your help. It is greatly appreciated Math Test I have scheduled the Chapter 12 math test for December 2. The test will include double digit and triple digit multiplication. I will send home the Chapter 12 study guide on Monday. Students may want to continue to review the basic multiplication facts over the Thanksgiving Break so they are familiar for the test. Social Studies I have scheduled the Chapter 3 Social Studies test for Friday, December 4. The test will have the same format as previous tests. The first 10 multiple choice questions will come from the student foldable. The next 5 question will have to do with making decisions (pgs.66-67.) Finally the test will include two short answer essay questions. The questions are as follows: 1. How have scientists been able to learn about the early Native Americans known as the Mound Builders? 2. How were the Chippewa, the Ottawa, and the Potawatomi alike? How were they different? Please remind your students that all questions are to be restated in their answers. Answers should also be complete sentences with proper grammar and punctuation. Weekly Newsletter In an attempt to set a good example, our class will be going "green" with the classroom newsletter. The Walter Weekly is posted on Thursday afternoon to the Newsletter link on the website. Unfortunately the website software has changed from last year, thus making the newsletter a bit difficult to read. If you would continue to receive a paper copy of the newsletter please let me know. I will be more than happy to send home a copy in the Thursday folder. PowerSchool PowerSchool is up and running. If you have not had a chance to take a look at it please do so. I think many parents have found it to be a very helpful way to keep a loving and supportive eye on their students’ progress. PowerSchool has eliminated the need for interim reports. If for some reason you do not have access to PowerSchool please contact me for an update of your student’s progress. Finally, please note that at this time a missing assignments is noted by a “dashed” line. A dashed line does not effect the student’s grade. I will be change all “dashed” lines to a zeros towards the end of the quarter A zero will effect the student’s grade. Allergies During this school year, our classroom will be a nut-alert zone. A nut-alert room is one that does not allow nuts of any kind into the classroom. I ask that all students refrain from bringing any snacks that are made with any type of nuts, including but not limited to nut snacks and/or any type of nut butters into the classroom. I am also asking if possible when sending in birthday/party snacks that parents include a list of ingredients. Thanks in advance for your cooperation.
Or, would you like to view and optionally restore one of these previous versions?
