My background is in social work. I began my career as a case manager for a
children's agency in Southfield. In 1999, I was employed as an aide in a 3rd
grade modified-curriculum classroom at an elementary school in Woodbridge,
Virginia. I loved being in the classroom and I decided to pursue a
teaching career. The following year, I was offered a position at Holy Cross
Academy in Fredericksburg, Virginia-teaching 6th and 7th grade Literature
and Religion.

My husband's job brought my family back to Michigan (this is where I grew
up). I began my career at St. Joseph as a substitute teacher. In 2002,
I became the gym teacher while attending University of Detroit Mercy's
Elementary Education program. In 2003, I was offered a 5th grade teaching
position. By 2004, I had moved into the middle school and became a 6th
grade homeroom teacher. The job fits like a glove. Call me crazy, but I
absolutely love teenagers! I believe that God led me to this vocation. I
feel most fulfilled when I am in the classroom.

When I have extra time(what's that?),I enjoy riding my bike on
Paint Creek Trail, spending time with my husband and three teenagers(when I
can catch them home), and reading.

Mission for the Class

My mission is to assist students with the transition from 5th to 6th
grade. Some of my goals are to help students get organized, develop healthy
social skills, and to recognize and use the gifts and talents that God has
graced them with. I am also passionate about social justice and bring that
passion into the classroom. When students graduate from St. Joseph School
they will take with them exemplary academic skills, strong organizational
skills, a "moral compass" to help guide them through their high school years
and beyond, and an awareness of their obligation to help others less
fortunate than themselves.
