Happy New Year! The month of January is a big month for our class!
Not only are we responsible for the daily school prayer(said over the speaker
at @8:50), we also will be the readers for the school mass on Jan. 20. This
is a big job for us and we will need lots of practice at home and at school.
We will need at least 11 readers plus gift bearers and greeters. I will be
sending home assignments and readings by Jan. 8.
We also have the school Bake Sale on Jan. 21. We will need all families to
contribute 2 dozen goodies(cupcakes, brownies, rice krispie treats, cookies,
etc) and bring them to school on Thurs. Jan. 21. We usually have a cake
raffle with the bake sale, so I hope a few of you will consider bringing a
cake as well. Wow! The new year really comes in in a big way:)
The rest of the month will be fairly quiet, but of course we continue to meet
new Letter People, work with new math topics, learn more about the life and
family of Jesus in Religion.
We will also discuss winter, snow and snowflakes, and have a visit from
Dean Welte from the Shiawassee Road Commission on being safe in the snow.
We will discuss peacemakers, especially Martin Luther King Jr.
We will work on Health lessons on Feelings and our Five Senses.
The end of the semester comes Jan. 22, which means half the school year has
zipped past. Report cards come home Jan.28.
The last Sunday in January begins Catholic Schools Week. There will be more
information coming soon on this big celebration and the special days that
week.
Don't forget to always have your child ready for outdoor recess. Even if it
does not seem as though they need snowpants or boots, our school policy says
they must have everything to be ready for any weather. Thanks for helping
with this.
Please let me know if you have questions about any of our activities.
Thanks again for all those great Christmas wishes and gifts. You are really
wonderful, supportive families.
