November 9, 2009
Dear Parents,
Thank you for all the concern and prayers sent my way. I am still
recovering and will be doing what my doctors say for another week. Most
definitely, I will return to school next Monday, Nov. 16. For now, I am fully
confident that my substitute, Mrs. Steibel, has all that she needs to have
another successful week with the children. I have known her as a fellow
teacher, (and have taught some of her children) in our diocese for more than
25 years. A more excellent "stand-in" could not have been found. God has made
sure again that He has all of our best interests in His loving care.
Today the class reviewed last week's story and skills, took the Spelling
and Reading Test for the story Animal Mom's and Dad's, and will begin Unit2-2
work tomorrow for reading. Math continues to find us learning ways to make
ten. The test for this Topic 5 will be on Wednesday. In Religion, we are
learning about the Liturgical year in which we celebrate the Life and
Teachings of Jesus. We follow this with learning about Ordinary Time- the
way our church teaches in an orderly fashion about the life of Jesus. We also
will be learning about the Saints who have gone before us to help set an
example for us to become saints, too. In Science, we finish our Tree Unit. I
will make paper with them next week. My Social Studies focus this month will
be a study of Native American Legends, customs, and picture writng.
