May you all enjoy a very blessed and peaceful Thanksgiving time with your
families. I am thankful for each of our students and for all of you.
***The 7th graders will be shopping at the St. Nick's Gift Shop on Tuesday,
December 1st at 9:00a.m-9:30a.m. Please send any money in with your child
that morning. Each student has a list to fill out with names/amounts of
money to spend to help him/her with the shopping. Thank-you very much.
***Just a quick 'heads up'...our 1st 7th Grade bakesale will be on Thursday,
December 3, 2009. This is during the first week back to school after the
Thanksgiving holidays. We would appreciate you donating at least two dozen
of some kind of baked good. With our class size rather small, anything
beyond two dozen would be doubly appreciated. The bakesales are our only
fundraiser for our class trip near the end of the year. Thank-you in advance
for all of your help!
With rehearsals for the upcoming Christmas plays in full swing, please help
your student(s) remember to check with individual teachers, as well as on
the teacher websites for work missed and/or homework assigned. Many of our
students must miss regular classes in order to rehearse. We do not want
anyone to fall behind, or to feel that he/she is missing out on important
information given during classtime.
***Homework Club is in full swing. Please read, sign and return a permission
form if you would like your child(ren) to participate in the homework club.
You may sign up your child(ren) at any time during the year.
Please check this site daily(if possible) for homework assignments, upcoming
projects, important notes and information, and general news. Since I am
teaching the 5th-8th grade science classes, as well as the 6th grade math
class, the daily assignments for those classes will be listed on the
homework link also. All 7th grade homework is also listed daily in our
classroom. Students should always make sure his/her planner is completely
filled in every day before leaving school.
Missing assignment notes will be inserted into the student's planner for the
day when the missing assignment occurs. Students will have until the end of
school the following day to turn in the missing assignment-with a 10%
penalty. Any assignment not turned in by the end of the next school day
will receive a zero. If a student accumulates three missing assignment
notes, a letter will be sent home via post to the parents.
Homework club is available every Monday-Thursday, excluding the 2nd Monday
of the month(teacher faculty meeting). Homework club runs from 3:40-4:30.
This year homework club will meet in the library. Mrs. Vondrasek will have
the computer lab open as well on Tuesdays and Thursdays during homework
club. Computer time is for research and word processing(not game time)
Students will be able to bring a healthy, non-messy snack to eat between
3:40-3:50 if they choose. A water bottle is also encouraged. Homework club
is a great time to get a good start on homework, especially for students
involved in after school extracurricular activities. Everyone registered in
homework club MUST also be registered in latchkey in the event that a parent
or approved responsible person is late collecting a student from homework
club. Any student waiting for a ride beyond 4:40p.m. will be directed to
latchkey.
Please also remember our new dress code regulations which were mailed out
with the summer packet. A student not is dress code will forfeit his/her
Friday jeans day for that week. A student not is dress code will be directed
to the office to phone a parent for appropriate clothing. We have a limited
amount of dress code clothing available at school for students whose parent
cannot bring clothes from home.
With the return to school, athletics are already in full swing. Please
remember that a student must maintain a 70% in EVERY class in order to be
eligible for sports practices and game days. This is a weekly check-up with
notifications being made to parents on Mondays for the current week.
If you have any questions, at any time, please do not hesitate to ask. I am
here by 7:45 M-F, and do not regularly leave before 5:00p.m. I check my
school email every day and will respond to any questions the same day if at
all possible. You can always leave word in the school office, write me a
note about any concerns or phone me at school. Every teacher has individual
voice mail access.
Thank-you for choosing St. Paul's for your child's academic and faith
education.
