Background Information
This is my sixteenth year teaching, my eleventh at Western Middle School. I
have spent most of my years teaching 7th or 8th grade science. During my
teaching career I have earned a Master’s from Marygrove College, an
Educational Technology Certificate from Michigan State University, and I am
currently working towards a second master’s in Educational Technology from
Walden University. I earned my undergraduate degree from Eastern Michigan
University; I received a B.S. in Biology and General Science for secondary
education. I enjoy coaching various sports and I am currently coaching the
middle school cross country teams. I also enjoy traveling and spending time
with my family.
My Philosophy
I do not just teach science; I teach students – I teach your child. It is
my job to help facilitate their success. Your child is special to me.
His/Her opinions, differences, and individuality are imperative to my
classroom atmosphere. I will respect and create a positive, safe learning
environment for your child, and in return I hope to receive their respect
and cooperation.
To prepare my students with the skills necessary to enter society. Each
day, I will treat all my students with respect, compassion, and trust. I
will equip my students with skills such as responsibility and organization
through academic content that is exciting and motivating. I want each
student to leave my classroom knowing that if they utilize the skills I have
taught them then they will be productive, positive, problem solvers.
