This is my 17th year teaching. It's my second year back in Grand Haven schools. I did my student
teaching at the old high school (Lakeshore) and taught there and at the old Jr. High (White Pines) for
two years before accepting a position in West Ottawa. I taught at West Ottawa high school for 13
years. I have taught both French and Spanish. I have also taught a Spanish 101 class at MCC. Last
year I taught the 7th grade Spanish exploratory class at both White Pines and Lakeshore middle
schools.

I received my Bachelor's degree at Western Michigan University and my Master's degree at Grand
Valley State University. I attended the Universidad de Guanajuato in Mexico for one semester and
lived with a family there. I have traveled to Mexico, Spain and Costa Rica with students and went to
Japan as a teen.

Three summers ago I went to Bilbao, Spain to study for 3 1/2 weeks at the Universidad de Deusto. I
also was able to get to Biarritz, France and London, England while I was in Europe.

I live here in Grand Haven with my husband (who is a Science professor at Muskegon Community
College), my two sons, Tanner (13) who goes to Grand Haven High School and Logan (10) who goes
to Ferry Elementary and our daughter Serena who is 2.
