What is the Postive Behavior System (PBS)?

The "Positive Behavior System" is a district wide behavior plan
put in place to promote positive and safe behavior. The Addams
values are "Be Safe," "Be Respectful," and "Be Responsible" at
all times. It is expected that students will carry out their
positive citizenship from arrival to dismissal
in all areas of the school.

What is our PBS behavior plan?

The Addams school wide behavior plan is:
*The first offense results in a verbal warning.
*The second offense results in a verbal warning. The students
will fill out a "think sheet" that will be sent home to be signed
by a parent or guardian.
*The third offense results in filling out another "think sheet"
that will be sent home to be signed by a parent or guardian and
must complete a community service consequence at school.
*The fourth offense results in an office referral.
*All unsafe situations will result in an immediate office
referral.

What is the planner and private practice, and how are they used?

*All private practice work will be recorded by your child in the
planner at the end of every school day.

*Please provide a time and a place for your child to complete his
or her private practice work. Your child has been instructed in
how to do this private practice work and should be able to
explain it to you.

*All private practice work is due the next school day unless
otherwise indicated.

*EVERY NIGHT, please review the completed private practice work
with your child, sign the planner (EVEN IF THE WORK HAS NOT BEEN
COMPLETED) and have your child put the planner and work in their
backpack BEFORE going to bed.

*If you or your child have difficulty reading the planner or
remembering the private practice work, please visit our web site
http://teacherweb.com/MI/SouthRedford/BaughmanNagelhout.
All private practice work is listed on that web site. This web
site contains many useful resources for students and parents.

*Any notes you may wish to write to a teacher may be recorded in
the parent section at the bottom of each planner page.

*Any notes we may write to you will be recorded in the teacher
section below.

When is the website updated?

Private practice work is updated daily with assignments found on
the day they were assigned. Therefore, if your child is absent,
you can keep up with missed daily assignments. They will be
posted at the end of each day.

How is healthy snack done in 3rd grade?

Snack time will be held each day mid-morning. Please send only
NON-MESSY, HEALTHY snacks. Fruit such as apples, bananas, or
grapes make great healthy snacks. Vegetables or granola bars
make great healthy snacks too. Please DO NOT send in snacks such
as yogurt, fruit cups, jello, pudding, cookies, candy, chips,
popcorn, dip, etc. LET'S BE HEALTHY! There is also no sharing
of snacks (food allergies, parental preferences), so if your
child does not bring a snack to school, he/she will not be able
to eat during snack time. Thank you for your support and
cooperation!

How can my child celebrate his/her birthday in class?

If you choose to have your child celebrate their birthday in
class, please support the South Redford Wellness Policy by
sending in only NON-FOOD items such as pencils, erasers,
stickers, etc.

In addition, consider the following suggestions:
*Schedule a time to read to our class
*Donate an indoor recess game or puzzle
*Donate a book to the class library
*Share a game with the class during recess
*Donate a piece of play equipment for recess

Feel free to be creative. There is also no more sharing of
birthday items to other classrooms/teachers, so only send enough
for our class. Any questions or suggestions, please do not
hesitate to contact us. Thank you in advance for supporting the
health of our students.
