About The Teacher
Mrs. Baughman (Math & Social Studies): This is the 11th year that I've had the pleasure to teach at Addams, and in 2011, I watched my first group of third graders at Addams graduate from Thurston High School. That was a very special moment for me! I graduated from William Tyndale College in Farmington Hills, MI, where I majored in English and minored in elementary curriculum. I earned my teaching certificate at Madonna University in Livonia, MI. I earned my Master’s Degree at Marygrove College in Detroit, MI. I have been married for 14 years and have a son, Malachi (7), and a daughter, Molly (4). My husband, Aaron, has been an elementary & middle school teacher, middle school assistant principal, middle school and upper elementary principal, and is currently the director of professional development in his district. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family, singing, dancing, and listening to music. I also enjoy traveling. Some of the exciting places I have been are Hawaii, Mexico, Costa Rica, Panama, the Bahamas, the U. S. Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, California, Grand Cayman (where I snorkeled with sting rays!), Belize, Honduras, and Disney World. I decided to become a teacher because I wanted to make a difference in the lives of young people just as my teachers did for me. I truly enjoy helping students grow and learn. Feel free to contact me by email at baugje01@southredford.net, by calling the school, or by writing a note in your child's planner. Mrs. Nagelhout (Language Arts & Science): I have had the great pleasure and honor of teaching and working with South Redford families for over twenty years. Prior to coming to Addams Elementary School, I taught at Fisher Elementary School. While at Fisher Elementary, I taught first, second, third and fifth grades as well as a summer Kindergarten Connections program. I graduated from The University of Michigan in Ann Arbor with a double major in Fine Arts and Language Arts. I received my Master’s degree from Wayne State University in Detroit specializing in Educational Research and Evaluation. I have recently attended Madonna University while working toward my Early Childhood Endorsement. I earned my National Board Certification as a Middle Childhood Generalist in 1998. My husband and I are the lucky parents of two children, Anna and Garrett. They surprise us each day with both how rewarding and challenging parenting can be. Like Mrs. Baughman, my husband and I enjoy traveling a great deal. Thanks to an overseas assignment for my husband’s work, we gave birth to our daughter in London. As a baby and toddler, she accompanied us while we explored Europe. I look forward to bringing my teaching experience, personal adventures, and parenting perspective to Addams as we work together to create a challenging and caring environment where ALL of our children thrive. My email address is nageal01@southredford.net.
Mission Label:
Mission
Teachers': We believe that every child has the potential to learn. As a facilitator of information, it is our job to find that potential inside every child. The teacher, parents, staff of the school, and the student are all a part of a student's education. We must work together to bring out the best in all children and help them reach their full potential, teaching them that learning is a life long process. We plan to use this mission to bring out the best in your child every day. Class' (written by the 2011-12 third graders): We are here to listen, learn, and prepare for 4th grade by being respectful, responsible, and safe.
