Honorary Sorority for Women Educators
PURPOSE
Alpha
Delta Kappa – Chi Chapter awards a one thousand dollar ($1,000.00) scholarship
on the basis of merit for the pursuit of a degree in education. The
scholarship is given every 2 – 3 years and application information is sent to
the following Colleges and Universities:
Augsburg
College Luther
College
Hamline
University Saint
Mary’s University
Winona
State University University
of Wisconsin - Stout
ELIGIBILITY
Alpha
Delta Kappa – Chi Chapter awards the scholarship to any Olmsted County high
school graduate who is a Minnesota resident and is currently a college
undergraduate or graduate with a 3.0 or above grade point average. Scholarship
recipients are scheduled to be student teaching in the coming year (of the
scholarship award) in an elementary or secondary education program.
REQUIREMENTS FOR APPLICATION
When
applications are accepted, applicants have submitted a letter briefly stating
the area of education they planned to pursue and why the field of education
was of interest to them. They also included a brief
autobiographical narrative covering the following areas:
* Grade point average
* Date of student teaching
* Leadership and volunteer activities
* Extra-curricular activities
* Employment experience
Alpha Delta Kappa – Chi Chapter began to
award scholarships approximately 25 years ago. The
first scholarship was given in the amount of $250 and has since grown to
