el 27 de mayo:
6th~ Finish  your sentences with the vocabulary from today...putting it into
     sentences with the verb gustarse.  15 sentences due Friday.  Remember 
     that your final will be on Monday, June 1st.  If you worked after school
     today in the make-up market your project is due Friday in class.
7th~ (7-1)p. 205 Act. 26
     (7-2) at the band concert
8th~ You took the preterite final today.  ALL work should be completed as of 
     today!  If I gave you permission to bring something to me tomorrow, bring
     it to me BEFORE school starts or you will not get credit for it!

PLEASE HELP!!!  I need all of you to go to the grade portal and check your 
asssignments and grades tomorrow (which is when it will be updated this 
week.)  It's important to let me know if you have a differing opinion about 
what the grade is.  Speak now or it may be too late to add late work into 
final grades!  If you know you've done an assignment and it looks like you 
are not getting credit for it, please let me know ASAP!

6th~ Today you started the verb "tener" be sure you memorize this verb and its
     conjugations.  
     HW> p. 244 Act. I in complete sentences
7th~ We finished chapter four by correcting the book test.  If you did not 
     this done today you MUST have it done by Wednesday or you will take an
     actual test on this chapter!  We started chapter 5 today.  Much of this
     chapter is a review for you and we will move through this quite quickly!
     If you happen upon material you do not remember, be sure to spend some 
     time on your own re-memorizing!
     HW> p. 188 Act. 2 in complete sentences.
8th~ We are finishing the year on preterite tense.  Please memorize the new
     endings!
     HW> p. 152-153 Act. 35-37...Most of class time was spent today working
     on these activities!

6th~ Welcome back!!!
7th~ We had a quiz today on the -er and -ir verbs and their conjugations.  We
     will not be taking a test on this chapter.  Instead, you will complete
     the end of the chapter test in the book this weekend and we will go over
     it on Monday.  It is on pgs. 174-175
8th~ There was a quiz today on the Affirmative and Negative Informal Commands.
     We started the preterite tense today.  You need to write 3 sentences with
     -ar verbs, 3 with -er verbs and 3 with -ir verbs all in the preterite
     tense.  Do not use the same conjugations.

6th~ At Foley...See you Friday!
7th~ We learned the irregular verbs from p. 164/You will have a little quiz
     on Friday and the -er/-ir verb meanings, the irregular verbs, and how
     the verbs are conjugated.  Extra credit: flash cards of the verbs
8th~ We worked on Negative Informal Commands and how they compare with the
     Affirmative Informal Commands.  You will have a little quiz on these on 
     Friday.

el 11 de mayo:
6th~ Having fun at Camp Foley
7th~ Today we started learning the conjugations for -er and -ir verbs.  You
     took notes on a list of these verbs and need to memorize them!!!
     HW> p. 163 Act. 40
8th~ We learned how to form the negative informal commands (NIC) today.  Be
     sure you memorize this conjugation!  And review it in your books and
     notes. 
     HW> p. 108 #38

el 8 de mayo:
6th~ Your final market project was due today.  If you didn't have the final
     project completed, please, please, please bring it in on Monday morning 
     before you leave for Camp Foley!  And have fun at Camp Foley!
7th~ p. 161 Act. 36 And...be sure you are memorizing the vocabulary and 
     phrases for this chapter.  There will be chapter test soon, and it's much
     better to study now than cram later!
8th~ p. 107 Act. 35...Be sure you are memorizing the vocabulary and phrases!
     There will be a chapter test next week and it's way too much information
     to study last minute!

el 6 de mayo:
6th~ Today we had our market and it was AWESOME!!!  The kids had a great time
     practicing their Spanish, selling items and bartering for items.  The
     final project is due on Friday.  You need your final copy of the check
     register, the check from the items you sold, the one page pager that
     has the four items you had for sale, and your final evaluation of the
     Market Day!
7th~ p. 159 Act. 31....10 complete sentences

el 4 de mayo:
6th~ My appologies I've missed a couple of days of updating this!  The kids
     have been working on completing their market projects.  They are will 
     have the market on Wednesday and the completed project will be due on
     Friday.  The rubric will be posted above today.  Next week is camp foley
     so there will be nothing new after Friday.
7th~ Last week you worked on Acts. 22, 25-27.  Because classes were a little 
     crazy with Improv, we just went over these today.  Be sure you have
     completed all of these activities!
     HW> Use the 5 vocabulary words/phrases from pgs. 154-155 to write a six
     sentence minimum paragraph. Your paragraph needs to be a paragraph, not
     just random sentences!
8th~ We are working on the second vocabulary section, body parts.  Be sure
     to memorize ALL new vocabulry...including words that come up in the 
     activities throughout the chapter!
     HW> solo/con 1 companero/con 2 companeros escoje 8 palabras o fraces
     de vocabulary de ps. 100-101.  Van a presentar en viernes.

el 27 de abril:
6th~ We continued with directions for the market which will take place next
     week.  Today we practiced how to write out a check.  We also worked with
     partners to practice how to barter for items and then write the check
     out.
7th~ Be sure you are memorizing the verb conjugations from the Grammar section
     number 1 in your books!  
     Tarea: p. 151 Act. 22
8th~ There was a quiz today.  It was open book...but you were to also spend
     time studying so you weren't reliant on your book.  I'm thinking that
     many of you didn't listen!  Therefore, I'm not sure yet if there will be 
     time to complete this quiz if you didn't originally do so.

6th~ Bring three items that you would want to sell in a market.  Be sure you 
     know what the items are in Spanish.
7-1~ Choose either Act. 18 or 19
7-2~ Act. 19
8th~ P. 97 Act. 22 choose either 1 or 2...there will also be an open book 
     grammar quiz on Monday.  But DON'T let that fool you into thinking you
     don't need to study...YOU DO!!!

     through some research?

6th~ We are continuing to work with numbers.  
     HW> 5 number equations.  Write them with numerals and Spanish words

8th~ We are working on reflexive verbs.  Although these verbs are not often
     used in everyday conversation, it is important that you know what these 
     verbs are and how they are used!

     Review page for the ser/estar verbs...Your test on these verbs will
     be on Friday.
7th~ We are working on vocabulary 2 from chapter 3.  Today you had to turn in
     your final copy of the paragraph you wrote using the vocabulary from
     activity 23.  We started we reviewed the days of the week and regular
     -ar verb conjugations.
     HW> p. 115 Act. 33 Use each word in each of the boxes once!
8th~ Today was the chapter 6 test.  Friday you will start chapter 7.

el 18 de marzo:
6th~ find a picture and describe it using: 2 ser sentences, 2 estar sentences,
     2 present progressive sentences, 2 sentences with prepositions
7th~ write 5 sentences using the 5 conjugations of the verb querer.  We also
     talked about possibly organizing a trip for June of 2010.  If kids are
     interested they should talk with their parents about what we talked about
     in class.  I'll talk with the kids again on Friday to see if there is 
     enough interest to have a parent meeting in about a week.
8th~ STUDY!!!  The chapter test will be next wee on Wednesday...You need to 
     prepare yourself NOW for the test!

6th~ We are continuing to study the differences between ser and estar.  As 
     practice/ as homework, you need to:
     Write 10 sentences with ser and 10 sentences with estar
7th~ To practice the verb "querer" 
     HW> p. 105 Act. 20
8th~ There is no new homework tonight...but several of you are missing work!
     GET IT DONE!!!  There is a large chapter test coming up on Friday of this
     week.  You should be reviewing old homework, and looking through your
     books to refresh your memory.  Wednesday we will spend time reviewing, 
     but DO NOT WAIT until the last minute to study!

6th~ Quiz today on prepositions
     HW> p. 228 # 12 in complete sentences.
7th~ Figure out who the people are from you class activity.  If you were not 
     here, you'll need to see me on Monday for an alternative homework 
     assignment.
8th~ p. 74 Act. # 3-4.  We have finished chapter 6.  We will spend next week
     reviewing and there will be a chapter test next Friday, March 20th so
     start studying now!

     are used with the verb "estar" because you are indicating where some-
     thing is located.

6th~ We learned about present progressive tense today.  It is formed by using
     the conjugated verb estar + base of -ar verb with -ando at the end.  In
     English it is the -ing ending.  (Yo estoy estudiando espanol.  I am 
     studying Spanish.)
     HW> Write 10 sentences with the present progressive tense.
7th~ We finished the vocabulary section in chapter 3.  You will have a little
     quiz on the vocabulary on Monday.  You should study the vocabulary on 
     pages 94-99
8th~ No homework...there was a little quizzie/final today.

el 25 de febrero:
6th~ Remember that you have a quizzie final on Friday on the estar 
     conjugations and when the verb is used.  You have to have the accent 
     marks in the right places to get this right!
7th~ No homework, but be sure you know how to say the sentences from todays
     group work from activity 4; you should be memorizing the vocabulary from
     the current chapter- 3.
8th~ Remember that you have a quizzie final on Friday on the direct object
     pronouns.  Your packet from Monday is a great place to study!

el 18 de febrero:
EVERYONE...Be sure to check the grade portal this week for missing work.  All 
missing work should be completed by Monday, February 23 as the last day of 
the trimester is on Friday, February 27th and I will need time to grade 
everything.  If you have missed a quiz or a test you need to schedule a time 
before or after school to take it!!!

6th~ 10 sentences with the verb estar.
7th~ STUDY FOR YOU TRIMESTER II FINAL...It will be this Friday, February 20th!
8th~ 10 sets of sentences.  1st- with a noun, 2nd- substitute the noun with 
     a direct object pronoun.

My sincerest appologies for not having the grade portal updated last week.  
Please check in on your Spanish grades as they are currently up to date.  If 
you are missing an assignment, please show it to me DURING CLASS so I can 
make sure the computer gets upgrading pronto.
6th~ Monday we worked on the word finds and a packet was handed out with
     practice using adjectives including occupations and the verb ser.  Today
     we went over the packet.  There will be a test on Friday on this material
     which is found in your book in chp. 8-9
7th~ Homework for Friday is p. 81 Act. B.  Your end of trimester final will
     be on Friday February 20th.
8th~ p. 59 Act. 35, just the answers AND add four sentences to the dialog
     either at the beginning or the end; or two at the beginning and two at 
     the end.

7th~ choose 5 heroes and write three sentences about each.  Be prepared to 
     read these to the class on Monday.
8th~ If you were not happy with your stem changing verb quiz score, you have
     ONE chance to retake it on Monday morning at 7:30...please just come 
     to my room ready to take the quiz.

     with nouns and how they agree.

     doesn't have accents) and "a ti" (again the accent thing)

6th~ There will be a quiz on Monday on the Adjective vocabulary.  You should
     also know what an adjective is and how it is used in Spanish.
7th~ We used our pictures from last week for a group activity.  Please review
     the vocabulary in the Expresate box on p. 66
     HW> p. 66 Act. 29
8th~ There will be a quiz Monday on the chapter 2 vocabulary up to this   
     point.  This is mostly foods, and the items that you need to eat such as 
     plate, cup, fork, etc.

el 16 de enero:
6th~ p. 126 Act. K...But you need to use the phrase in a sentence WITHOUT
     seperating the phrase.  (#1 El animal grande es gordo.)
7th~ Make sure you are memorizing vocabulary!!!  Many of you claimed you
     didn't understand the culture page but you didn't put a lot of effort
     into looking up vocabulary!  When new vocabulary shows up in your book,
     you are expected to know/memorize it!
     HW> a picture from pages 62-63 (assigned in class); p. 64 Act. 25 
     in complete sentences. 
8th~ Same as Wednesday...If you don't still have that picture of the "weird"
     food item, make one up...you'll need the funny food for class on Wed.

6th~ We continued with the verb ser and occupations and physical descriptions
     which are also used with the ser verb.

7th~ Students presented their pictures with descriptions today.  We went over 
     some grammar points.
     HW> p. 57 Act. 16
8th~ We worked on phrases (questions and verbs) that would be used in a 
     restaurant.  With partners create a short dialog of a restaurant.  
     Use p. 45 Act. 10 as a guide.  You should both have the dialog written in
     your notes.  You will present these to the class on Friday.

6th~ We worked on reviewing the verb ser along with occupations
     HW> p. 154-155 Act. G
7th~ Remember before break when you needed a picture of someone and you needed
     to write some information about that person?  We will go over these on
     Wednesday.  (See Dec. 8th if you've forgotten)
     Today we reviewed ser and worked through pgs. 54-55.  
     HW> p. 55 Act. 12; write 4 sentences for each of the people.
8th~ A little review of food vocabulary.

el 8 de diciembre:
6th~ one-was at mass today, no class.  Ser quiz will be on Wednesday
     two- took the ser quiz today.
7th~ Today we worked on using the phrases: Cuantos anos tienes and Cuando es
     tu cumpleanos?  You will need to find a picture of someone.  It can be
     anyone.  You need to have sentence on the back telling the person's 
     name,age, birthdate, and three descriptive adjectives about the person.
     It is due on Wednesday.
     On Friday there will be a quiz on the adjective vocabulary.
8th~ We have been working on food vocabulary.  There will be a quiz on Friday
     on the vocabulary from pgs. 40-41
     Today we worked on "funny foods" from Activity 5 on p. 43.  You need to
     choose one of the foods that your group invented and make a picture of 
     that food for Wednesday.  Wednesday we will work on making a comercial
     for your food.

el 5 de diciembre:
Report cards were distributed to students today!
6th~ I didn't see 6-1 today because they were on the field trip to AHA.  6-2
     was a very shortened class...you will have the ser quiz on Monday!
7th~ We reviewed the verb tener and talked about how it's used with age...
     Yo tengo 14 anos.    NOT: Yo soy 14 anos.
     HW> p. 53 Act. 8 plus write two additional sentences to go with each
     picture.
8th~ Today we learned how to create a Podcast.  We recorded La Noche Antes de
     La Navidad. Each student had at least one line.  The program is 
     recordable through a program called Audacity.  The Podcasts will be 
     uploaded to the wiki page next week so you can share our creation with 
     your friends and family.

6th~ We continued to go over the verb ser and its irregular conjugations.
     Friday there is a quiz on the verb...You should know what the verb means,
     what the conjugations are, and when the verb is used.  (Use your notes
     from today to help you study!)  HW> Three pictures of three different
     occupations + write a sentence to go with the occupation.  (ie. Madonna
     es cantante.)
7th~ We worked on adjectives today and made a fan with the ones that are 
     giving you trouble memorizing.  It's kind of a way to make flash cards 
     without having a bunch of cards.  Your fans are due on Friday with eight
     adjectives
8th~ We are continuing to work on foods.  HW> p. 42 Act. 1 plus write a 
     sentence...any sentence with the food that you chose from the activity.
     Also, if you didn't have the homework done for Wednesday, Friday is your
     last chance to do it.  I will NOT give credit for this assignment after
     Friday!!!!

el 1 de diciembre:
6th~ today we started chapter 9.  This chapter is on occupations and the verb
     ser.  Be sure you start memorizing the verb as the conjugations are 
     very irregular!
     HW> write 10 sentence with the verb ser and occupations
7th~ Today we started chapter 2.  Some of this chapter will also be a review,
     but, some of it will be very new.  Be sure to keep up on both the old
     and the new material!
     HW> Find 5 pictures of five different people.  They could be personal
     friends, famous people, athletes, anyone!  Then write a sentence about 
     each of them and inlcude three descriptive adjectives that we studied
     today.
8th~ Today we started chapter two.  Some of this chapter will also be a 
     review, but some of it will be very new.  Be sure to keep on both the old
     and the new material!
     HW> Find 5 pictures of five different foods.  Then use the first question
     from Expresate to ask questions about the foods.  Also! Check out the 
     wiki space for part two of your homework (it will be ready around 3:30
     today).

el 24 de noviembre:
We didn't start anything new.  We read about "Gracias" the Thanksgiving 
turkey and colored and wrote about things we are thankful for.  Have a 
wonderful Thanksgiving break!!!

FINALS FOR SPANISH WILL BE THIS FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 21
6th~ The chapters that you should focus on are:

     Don't forget about the study guide posted above in the documents!
7th~ Today we spent some time reviewing chapter one.  You should use the 
     chapter review section on pages 36-41.  We went over most of this today.
     Some key points to study:

      *time
      *conversational vocabulary
8th~ Today we reviewed what will be included on the trimester I final.  There
     is a study guide posted in the 6-8 documents above.  
NO NEW HOMEWORK FOR 6-8th GRADES...YOU SHOULD SPEND SOME TIME STUDYING FOR 
THIS FINAL!!!  IT COUNTS FOR ABOUT 10% OF YOUR GRADE.

FINALS FOR SPANISH WILL BE THIS FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 21
6th~ There is a study guide posted in the 6-8 documents.  Anything on the 
     study guide will be on the final.  I STRONGLY suggest that you print
     it out and use it to study.  You should also go back and review any old
     quizzes and tests and homework assignments!
6-2~ We went over the homework and answering questions. No homework this 
     week...you should be using the time to study for your final!
6-1~ On a field trip today...there was no class. 
7th~ We talked about accents, punctuation and tildes today.  (Read over p.26)
     HW> p. 27 Act. 38.  You may also want to get a jump start on the review
     section which is pgs. 36-41...We will review on Wednesday and your final
     will be on Wednesday. 
8th~ No class today, you were on a field trip.  There will be a study guide
     posted soon in the 6-8 documents to help you study for the final.  You
     should use any quizzes or homework assignments from the trimester to 
     help review!
 
el 14 de noviembre:
Homework slips were passed out today for students that are missing enough to 
fall below a C in Spanish.  I will also email parents in case the slips 
mysteriously disappear.  Just a reminder that next week there will be a final 
in all of your classes.  Your final in Spanish will be on Friday.
6th~ We went over the homework and took a short quiz.  HW> Write five 
     questions for five different people in the class.  You should only be 
     using the format for which we have practiced in class.  DO NOT try to 
     write questions with the question words What, Who, Where, etc as we have
     not yet studied this type of question.
7th~ We went over the homework and took a short quiz.
8th~ Students listened to the podcast I created about La Familia Addams.  They
     should make up their own family story for Monday.  Also, if you have
     not yet visited my wiki, please do so.

     please be sure you memorize them!  They are a review and are required for
     success in Spanish language learning :o)

This year at the end of each trimester all teachers will be giving "finals".  
The finals will be on Thursday and Friday of next week.  Since my students 
don't have class on Thursday, all Spanish finals will be on Friday.  I will 
be talking with the students in class about what to expect for their final.  
We are working together to assure that the students finals will not all fall  
on one day.
6th~ We talked about how to answer questions, and the three ways in which to 
     do so.  There will be a short quiz on Friday this week; you will need   
     to know how to change a statement into a negative statement and how to  
     change it to a question.  HW> p. 76 Act. B...Choose five of them to 
     answer
7th~ Continued to review ser...there will be a short quiz on Friday on the
     ser conjugations.  HW> p. 25 Act. 35
8th~ We reviewed the -er and -ir verb endings.  HW> p. 26 Act. 31, complete
     sentences!

el 10 de noviembre:
It was great to visit with you, parents, at conferences.  If I was unable to 
meet with you, I sent home your child's current grade sheet along with a self 
evaluation which s/he completed last week.
6th~ Today we talked about making sentences into questions.  There were some 
     important notes, so be sure you have them written down; or ask a friend
     for a copy!  HW> p. 76 Act. B
7th~ We did a quick oral quiz on the alphabet.  And then reviewed the ser
     verb.  Be sure you remember the conjugations for this verb...They are 
     on p. 24.   HW> p.25 Act. 34
8th~ We worked on reviewing family members.  We took notes on the Spanish
     vocabulary for family and I put a copy of them in the 6-8 documents
     above.  (But, you'll need to look up the English :o)
     HW> p. 25 Act. 30...PLUS write an additional sentence about your answer.

el 5 de noviembre:
Parents, Conferences are Thursday and Friday.  I look forward to meeting 
those who are new to middle school, and seeing those whom I have met in 
previous years.  Please double check with your child what section they are 
in.  With 300 students, remembering their name is about as far as my memory 
can handle :o)

Students, After a wonderful celebration of Dia de los Muertos, we are back to 
the books learning more fabulous Spanish!!!
6th~ We did a little review of conjugations today and how to make sentences
     negative.  HW> p. 74 Act. A
7th~ Review the alphabe sounds be prepared to know how to spell the answers

Today students turned in their Day of the Dead papers.  I also checked the 
other part of their project.  There is no homework tonight :o)

HAPPY HALLOWEEN/ DAY OF THE DEAD
Today we celebrated our ancestors with altar tributes to our loved ones!  
Thank you everyone for celebrating this awesome holiday!  Your presentations 
were amazing and it is so intereting to hear about everyone you celebrated!  
A good lesson from our studies is that we should celebrate life!!!!
Bread of the Dead recipe is posted in the 6-8 documents.  Your papers and 
projects are due on Monday, November 3rd.

All grades have their Day of the Dead projects due Friday and Monday.  Please 
see the information sheet above in the 6-8 documents.  Also, if you still 
have not completed the homework from Oct. 20th I have removed the pictures 
from above.  They are posted on the bulletin board in my classroom.

Thank you for your patience while we work on getting or homework pages back 
to an easier access!
All students continue to work on Day of the Dead.  Today they spent a 
significant amount of time editing and working on their biographies.  The 
altars will be due on Friday, Oct. 31st and the final project will be due on 
Monday, November 3rd.  A written guide will be passed out on Wednesday with 
more details.  I will also post it above in the 6-8 documents.  
*If you are missing the assignment where you needed to look at the Day of the 
Dead photos, I will be removing them on Wednesday...Please look at them and 
answer the questions from Oct. 20th!

el 24 de octubre:
Please see the grade portal for any missing work.  Homework slips were passed 
out today and homework should be turned in on Monday.  Parents, if your child 
was missing two or more assignments I sent you an email.  If you have any 
questions, please don't hesitate to send me an email and we'll figure things 
out together!

6th~ Please re-do your Spanish sentences so that they are more alligned with 
     the verbs and vocabulary we have worked on in class.  (Some of you have 
     completed this in class...I will recheck this on Monday.)  Also, you 
     need to have your biographies typed for Monday.
7th~ You need to have your biography completed for Monday (it does not need to
     be typed).

We have been talking a lot about what the Day of the Dead holiday is.  But, 
we haven't really talked about where it originated from, or what the history 
is about the holiday.  Your homework tonight is to do a little research on it 
and discover what the origins are of the holiday.  Write a paragraph (in 
English) about what you learn.

All~ In the 6-8 documents above there are four pictures which were taken last
     year when I was in Mexico for Dia de los Muertos.  They are labeled A-D.
     Choose one of the pictures and describe what you see.  And then you will
     need to answer these questions:
     1. What Spanish vocabulary could you use to describe this picture?
     2. Why do you think the picture you chose is a good representation of
        Day of the Dead?
     3. Which picture would you like to see in person and why?

el 15 de octubre:
6th~ We started the unit on Dia de los Muertos.  We have celebrated this 
     holiday every year (3-5 grade) and this year is no exception.  We will
     spend the next two weeks learning about the holiday and learning about
     our ancestors.  Monday you will need to have a 3/4 page draft (in
     English) about someone you would like to celebrate for DM.  The person
     you are celebrating should be a family member and not a pet/animal.
     Your paper must include memories that you or your family have of
     the person you are celebrating...Other ideas that may be included in 
     your paper: favorite food, hobbies, chores,sports,place, work,    
     family, where they are burried, etc.
7th~ Projects (see Monday) are due Monday.
8th~ Same as 6th grade (above) but your paper needs to be one page; due 
     Monday

6th~ Test was changed to today, so there is no homework.
7th~ We are reviewing the calendar.  There is a small project that is due on
     Monday, October 20th.  Manilla paper was handed out today along with
     directions for what needs to be included in your project.
8th~ Quiz today (changed from Friday).

el 6 de octubre:
6th~ We are continuing to work on the differences between 
     pronouns    (a replacement for a noun)
     noun        (a person, place or thing)
     proper noun (a specific name of a person, place or thing)
     verb        (what is happening in the sentence, the action)
     We've taken several notes on these and how they relate to verb conjuga-
     tions!  If you have been absent, please use your homework buddies notes
     to copy them to your own.
     HW: p. 59 Informacion Personal...BUT! You need to add an extra sentence
     about someone else and use the phrase "tambien" (which means also)
     ex. 1. Yo hablo por telefono.  Paco habla por telefono tambien.  Your
     second sentence is about a different person(s) that does the same thing.
7th~ We are practicing telling time.  Our book only dedicates one page to this
     and I feel like we need to spend a little more than that on this topic.
     There will be a quiz on Friday on the vocabulary (see below).
     HW: Write 10 sentences telling what you do and at what time.
     ex. Yo practico futbol a las tres en punto de la tarde.
8th~ There was Lernia testing today, so we only spent a little
     time today on prepositional pronouns.  There will be a quiz on the 
     prepositional pronouns on Friday.

New grades were posted yesterday.  Please check the grade portal and get late 
assignments turned in as soon as possible!
6th~ There was a quiz today on verb conjugations
     HW: p. 67 Act. C...Be sure to conjugate the verbs
7th~ 7-2~We are going to be spending a little time on telling time :o)  We 
     went over p. 20 and how it compares with English telling time.
     HW: Write down 5 times and write out how you would say the time in 
     Spanish (ex.    4:25  =  Son las cuatro y veinticinco)
     7-2~ We had a very short class today...because of Blessing of the 
     animals.  We didn't have time to go over homework so we'll do so on 
     Monday.  
     HW: How would you say the following times in Spanish:
     3:15     8:30       1:20        6:50        10:35
     What do these vocabulary words mean in English:
     de la manana, de la tarde, de la noche, es mediodia, es medianoche,
     cuarto, en punto, media
8th~ We shared our "likes and dislikes"  [Very fun!!! Gracias!!!]
     We went over two more irregular verbs, querer and ir.  (p. 16) And we 
     went over prepositional pronouns, also p. 16.  
     HW: Write 10 sentences with a preposition followed by a prepositional
     pronoun.  (Prepositions are also on p. 16)

el 1 de octubre:
New grades will be posted tomorrow on the grade portal...Please be sure you 
check them and get any missing Spanish work in as soon as possible!  If you 
are missing 2+ assignments and they are not turned in by Monday you will be 
expected to stay after school on Tuesday and work in the study hall.
6th~ Study for the conjugations quiz...we took a practice today, so be sure
     you study this!
7th~ Read the "time" bubble on p. 20 and answer these questions:
     - How is telling time different in Spanish?
     - What seems hard about telling time in Spanish?
     - What seems easy about telling time in Spanish?
8th~ Please bring to class one item that represents something that you like 
     and one item that represents what you don't like.  You will share with 
     the class...but you can not have a sentence written down!

el 29 de septiembre:
6th~ We worked on conjugations of the verbs.  There will be a quiz on Friday
     on the conjugations.  Please study them...you need to have the new 
     vocabulary memorized!
7th~ Write down a number series of your own, similar to Friday's homework from
     activity 22.  Ex: 1,2,3,4,5,6
8th~ You have a quiz on Wednesday on the gustar verb.

el 26 de septiembre:
6th~ We are continuing to work on verb conjugations.  
     hw: Read the paragraph on p. 54 and do Act. E 1-9.  Hint- all of the 
     sentences are false and need to be rewritten.
7th~ We went over all past homework...(see below!)  We started working on 
     reviewing numbers.  
     HW: p.18 - Act. 21 & 22 Choose five from each to complete.
8th~ Write five sentences with the phrase "Me gusta..." or "A mi me gust..." 
     (accent the mi, but I can't on this homework page :o( 

el 24 de septiembre:
6th~ Quiz today on verb meanings
     hw: p. 52-53 Act. C...You can add extra information to the "sentence" to
     challenge yourself!
     ps...If you scored less than 11/15 on the first quiz (pronouns) you 
     should plan on retaking it before school.  Please set up the date with me
7th~ Make a list of U.S. cities that have an hispanic origin (list at least 
     15). Read pages 16-17 and do: 
     Comprender # 1-4
     Comunidad
     Some students finished this and others barely got started...there was
     Lernia testing today, so our class was a little disrupted.  7-1: You
     have barely seen me for class in the last week, we will hopefully get
     back on track Friday!
8th~ We continued to work on the verb gustarse.  We also started a review of 
     all verbs.  P. 12 has some verbs plus new ones...you will need to 
     memorize any new vocabulary in this book, as well as remember old vocab
     from previous years.
     hw: make a chart for each day of the week and list five things that you
     do...list the verbs in Spanish
     example: lunes - correr, hablar con amigos, etc.

el 22 de septiembre:
6th~ We continued working on verbs and conjugating them.  There will be a quiz
     on Wednesday on the meanings of the verbs.  Be sure to also know how they
     are spelled.
7-8th~ On a field trip "Plastics convention"!  We did not have class :o(

el 19 de septiembre:
6th~ Today we learned about conjugating verbs.  There were a lot of notes!
     tarea: Write 10 sentences; use each pronoun once and each verb once...
     Remember that your verbs change, or conjugate, based on the pronoun
     that you are using.
7th~ We worked on reviewing the pronouns and learned about a new pronoun
     "vosotros/vosotras"
     T. p. 15 Act. 20...Follow the directions and write out your interview;
     but you will need to add an additional two questions.  You will be 
     interviewing another student.
     (7-2 was at the pep fest and didn't have class...no need to do the hw
     above.)
8th~ We reviewed the verbs gustarse and tener.  
     tarea: p. 9 Act. 12 write the whole sentence out and add one additional
     sentence to go with the pictures.

el 17 de septiembre:
6th~ We took a quiz today on the meanings of the pronouns.  
     tarea: Write the Spanish/English verbs from p. 45-47 in your notes.  Be
     sure to look them up and don't just assume that you know what the mean-
     ing is from the picture!
7th~ Students should write a descriptive paragraph about one of the four
     people on p. 13 Act. 16.  You need to include three of the given 
     sentences plus an additional three sentences.  It is due on Friday and 
     will be turned in!  This means that it either needs to be on loose leaf
     paper, or typed, double spaced.
8th~ Use p. 7 Act. 9 as a guide to write a letter to a pen pal.  You need to 
     include all of the information from the Activity.  It is due on Friday
     and will be turned in!  This means that it either needs to be on loose
     leaf paper, or typed, double spaced.

el 15 de septiembre:
6th~ We are working on pronouns and just started verbs.  There will be a 
     quiz on Wednesday on the pronoun meanings; you should also know why some
     of them mean the same thing but are "different"
     (ellos and ellas both mean "they" but they are different because one 
     group has a boy and one has only girls.)
7th~ We are working on introductions...homework: p. 11 part 11
8th~ Find a picture (of anyone) and introduce the person.  You should write
     your introduction down...include: name, where the person is from (must
     be a Latin American country), describe the person, and give two more
     pieces of information.  Due Wednesday

6th~ Finish the grid we started in class.  You need to use nouns or proper
     nouns in place of the pronouns.  A grid is also in the 6-8 documents if 
     you would like to copy, type and print this

6th~ We started subject pronouns today.  Your homework is to make flash cards
     of the Spanish pronouns.  (You can copy them from your book, draw them,
     cut pictures from a magazine, take the pictures or yourself/friends...)
7th~ We reviewed greetings and using the phrases "Me llamo/se llama".  
     HW: p. 7 write a dialog for part 2 (choose eithera, B. or D) and do 
     part 3 in complete sentences
8th~ Very shortened class due to mass.  No new homework.

el 8 de septiembre:
6th~ Today we talked about work expectations.  All students should always 
     bring these items with them to class:
        book, notebook, folder, loose leaf paper, writing utensil, red pen
7th~ Read Roman numeral xx, and p. 2-3.  Pick one thing from p. 2-3 that you
     want to learn more about and do so (via internet).  You can either write 
     a half page paragraph, or give us a short presentation on Wednesday.
     7-2 also needs to read Roman numeral xii-xv
8th~ Read Roman Numeral xx and write a paragraph from p. 4 part 3...just  
     choose one
ALL BOOKS SHOULD BE COVERED!
