syllables, or words
incorrectly so that listeners do not understand what is being said or pay more
attention to the way
the words sound that what they mean.

What is Language?
Language is a code that we learn to use in order to communicate ideas and
express our wants and
needs. Reading, writing, speaking, and some gesture systems are all forms of
langauge. Children
may have language delays or disorders. Language difficulties may involve
semantics (word meaning),
syntax (word order), or basic communciation. Nonverbal students may use
alternative language
systems.

What is a Fluency disorder?
Stuttering or a fluency disorder is the condition in which the flow of speech
is broken by abnormal
stoppages (no sound), repetitions (st-st-stutteering), or prolongations

the the effort to
speak.

What is an IEP?
An IEP is an Individual Education Plan. All speech and language students have
Individual Education

on individual needs that
are reviewed at least annually.
