Dear Parents,

It’s good to be back in school on a regular schedule and routine. We hope 
everyone had a relaxing time over the holidays.

In Social Studies and Reading we will be studying maps. Please note the 
building project that is included in this week’s homework. Next week in 
school we will create a town with streets and addresses.

In Reading, we have been learning to read words with short vowel sounds such 
as cat, bat, run, can, etc.  We will target words with the th, sh, ch, wh, 
and tch  sounds such as that, thin, shoe, shell, chin, chop when, what, 
catch, and match.
   
On Thursday there will be a –0, -1 Math Facts test.
The math subtraction flash cards are in the Homework Folder. Please practice 
and work for speed. If your child has to count on their fingers or use some 
other strategy to find an answer, they are not memorized. Please help your 
child memorize the facts.
We will have a spelling pretest on Thursday. Spelling test on Friday. The 
vocabulary test will be on Friday.
Please see the attached note about toy day which is also on Friday.
