“Excel” for Cannon Falls

Purpose:  A student incentive program to reward any student (grades 10-12) for doing  good job in the classroom, for showing academic success, attending school regularly

and participating in school and community service projects.

Business Involvement:  Partnership with business; Prizes seem to enhance increased student production and business traffic.  Participating businesses receive an “Excel” plaque for display.

Student Responsibility:  Must make application through the Guidance Office and complete and have verified any community/volunteer services each semester.

Requirements—student must achieve the following during the previous semester to attain the appropriate level of reward.

Governance Items for the Excel Program

1-Any student grade 10-12 is eligible to participate.  Grades from the preceding

semester determines eligibility. (Ex—9th grade, 2nd semester determines 10th

            grade, 1st semester eligibility)

2-Application and completion of volunteer work for each semester must be

completed before the end of the first week of semester 1 and before the

            beginning of semester 2.

3-Verifying signature for volunteer work cannot be a parent or family member.

4-Card must be presented at the time of any purchase.

5-Card is not transferable (used only by the student issued) and will be dated

            for its valid duration.

6-Any misuse or abuse of card, or inappropriate behavior at the business

establishment, in the community or at school will result in immediate revocation

of the card for the remainder of the semester without appeal.

7-A list of awarded students will be provided to all participating businesses each

            semester.

8-A list of all participating businesses will be provided to all awarded students

            each semester.

9-Application forms are available from Mrs. Hoffman or Deb Klegin in the Guidance Office.  Questions or appeals of guidelines and rules or interpretations may be directed to Mr. Fredrickson.

10-In September, every attempt will be made to issue cards during the second

week of school or after businesses have been notified. In second semester, every

attempt will be made to issue cards the first week of the semester.

11-All businesses will be contacted to reaffirm participation and update

            information and regulations.

12-To maintain a high level of integrity in the Excel program, the verifying of

signatures and community service may/will be done periodically.

13-Replacement cards will be furnished at student expense. (Cost will be

determined by the cost of a replacement school lunch card.)
