FAQFrequently Asked Questions: This page contains answers to common questions of students and parents.
School starts at 8:10 and dismisses at 2:50. When is snack time for my child and do I need to provide a snack? We will have snack time in the morning. Students may purchase milk tickets in the office or you may also pay for milk for the year. Students need to bring their own snack. No candy please. Students may drink water or milk at snack time. No juice please. Each child has a special folder called the Take Home Folder. These folders will be sent home everyday, and your child needs to bring it back everyday. The folder is used to send home school work and any important notes for school. You may also use the folder for sending notes, lunch money, or other important information to school. Please check the folder every night. What should I do if my child needs medication at school? The nurse will give all necessary medication. She will need written permission from you to give medication to your child. There are forms available in the office and information in the school handbook. The medicine must be in the original container. Do you celebrate birthdays in the classroom? Our class will celebrate birthdays by wearing a birthday hat and singing to the child in the classroom. We will celebrate summer birthdays on the half birthday. If you would like to send a birthday snack you may, however this is NOT required. All birthday snacks need to be purchased at a store or bakery. The cafeteria offers some snacks that can be delivered right to the classroom! You can pick up a sheet that tells what is offered and the price of each item. We cannot serve homemade snacks. We have 22 children in our class at this time. We do have a student with a peanut allergy so please check the label of all classroom snacks! My e-mail address is dahl.cheryl@cannonfallsschools.com. (There is a link to my e-mail on the homepage of this website.) This is the quickest and easiest way to reach me during the day. I WILL send a quick reply as soon as I have read your message so you know I have received it. The number is 263-6800. You can also leave a message on my voice mail. Your child will receive a list of spelling words to study. Please practice these words at home. If you need ideas for ways to practice spelling at home, please ask. The spelling tests are every Friday. New words will be sent home on Friday. Students will also receive a list of words that they need to memorize during the week. Please practice reading these words at home, as students will be tested on them each Friday. Please try to read 10 minutes each night with your child. I will send home booklets at least once a week marked with the work READ. Please read these with your child and return them to school with your initials. Occasionally there will be an assignment to do at home, and these I will mark HOMEWORK. Return at your earliest convenience! We will be working on addition and subtraction facts to 12. Practicing at home will help your child learn these facts more quickly. |
