Course Description: 

                Students will be focused on using the five themes of geography in order to understand various places around the world, and the processes that effect the world.  The five themes of geography will be an underlying theme throughout the semester.

-Map Reading and Use -Five Themes of Geography                  -Culture Components

-Current Events                        -Economic Geography              -Population

-Demography                           -Developed & -ing Nations                   -Plate Tectonics

-Water Cycle                           -Water use & abuse                             -U.S. Regions

-U.S. States                             -World Conflicts                                   -World Regions

 

Geography Projects:

This course has some projects that are expected to be worked on in class.  These three tasks will be completed throughout the semester.  The tasks are:

                                    1.   State Comparison Project

2.   Economic Egg

3.      Country Creation

4.      And others are possible.

 

Grading Scale

A=100-93%    B+=89-88%    C+=79-78       D+=69-68%   

A-= 92-90%    B  = 87-83%    C = 77-73%    D = 67-63%   

B- =82-80%    C-= 72-70%    D-= 62-60%    Fail-=59-0%

Grade Categories and Percentages

Daily Assignments=40%           Maps/Map Quizzes  =15%

News Quizzes       =5%            Tests/Projects           = 40%

 

Requirements:

·        All assignments are expected to be turned in on time.

·        Late daily assignments will earn 50% off 1st day late, 1 point after that.

·        Students may be required to bring materials for projects.

·         Late individual and group projects will lose 10% off graded total for each day late.

·        All students who are absent need to meet with Mr. Stachowski in order to discuss items missed, or receive zeroes on the missed assignments.
