NO SCHOOL ON MONDAY: Since today is the end of the first quarter for the
secondary schools, we will have a teacher inservice day on Monday. (The
reason why the elementary and secondary schools are on different schedules is…
not worth getting into right now.) Enjoy the long weekend!
MATH TEST: It looks right now like we will be ready for the division test
next Thursday (or Friday). The kids have been doing a fantastic job so far.
Keep an eye out for the study guide on Wednesday (or Thursday).
READING COUNTS: Our current goal is to earn 15 points by Wednesday, December
2. If you ever want an update on your child’s progress, let me know. The
numbers are always at my fingertips.
BATTLE OF THE BOOKS: All fifth grade students will have the opportunity to
take part in our Battle of the Books program. The list of books can be found
on my website along with a FAQs sheet that you might find helpful. Let me
know if you have any questions.
SOCIAL STUDIES: We are now involved in a study of the American Revolution.
We will be moving through the chapters swiftly over the next two to three
weeks. In early December (or even late November) you can expect to see a
description of a major project and a study guide for a major test in my
newsletters. It will be important for you to touch base with your kids for
both of these activities to be sure they stay on schedule and perform at a
high level.
