We have been working on an integrated unit in Language Arts and Social Studies dealing with the Maya and the elements of the Mystery Genre.

Maya / Mystery Stations = The students visited 12 stations and were required to turn in something for each station. They visited one station per day. If they were absent, it was their responsibility to get the missing station information and to complete it on their own time. Grades are updated on the Parent Portal to reflect the station grades. I will update them once late/missing work is turned in.

The Second Voyage of the MIMI = We are now moving on to our second part of the Maya / Mystery Unit which is watching the mystery of The Second Voyage of the MIMI. Each day we will be learning new vocabulary, practicing our summarizing skills and testing out new predictions. All of this work will be kept in a Log Book which the students are responsible for keeping track of (it costs $1 to replace). We will be working on this until Winter Break and will resume with it in the New Year.

Puzzle Piece Mystery Project = As the mystery unit is drawing to a close, the students should be finished reading their individual mystery novel. They will each complete a Puzzle Piece Mystery Project (on their own time) that was assigned on December 10th. They received a guideline sheet, as well as a puzzle template to use if they like. Both of these sheets can be found under "Class Handouts" on my website. The "early-bird" turn-in-day will be Tuesday, December 22nd (extra credit will be available at that time) and the final turn-in-day will be Tuesday, January 5th.

Stay tuned for weekly updates!
