The end is drawing near......
Energy is high....temperatures are rising.....let the celebration begin!
We will be taking inventory of our classrooms soon. Please check your counters, drawers, baskets, corners, cushions, for anything that is SCHOOL RELATED! We are missing several books, rulers, calculators, novels, textbooks, please do some intense searching. I have encouraged the kids to be active in this endeavor. Thank you in advance.
REWARD DAY is tomorrow. Progress Reports will be coming home with an explanation of work completion and behavior. They truly know the expectations at this point in the year.....consistency and extra EFFORT and attention may be needed to be DISCIPLINED.
We still need some RESEARCH Reports turned in. There are a handful of students who need to turn in $10 and permission for our field trip on Tuesday. If you could, send it by Friday would be helpful. Mondays are very challenging to remember.
Enjoy the weather! We have a few more weeks to practice our discipline of the routine. We can do it!
Thanks.

Warm greetings!
Yeah...spring is here! I was able to check several rough copies of research reports. I did quick scans checking on FORMAT....including introductions, conclusions, and their topic sentences. Their report will need to be checked and edited by 2 different people. Please sign the Checklist if you assist with this. Thank you.
Many had the pieces there, however, many were missing their title page and bibliography. They had a sheet to record their sources on. Those that showed it and brought it back I assisted in putting the information on the correct lines. This will help when typing the bibliography page. It has the correct punctuation to add after each part. Typing the bibliography is challenging. There are several formats for a bib page, I encouraged the children to use the one I had passed in class.
There were a few students who did not have their report today. They stayed in at recess. This will be the consequence until I can view it.
Enjoy the sunshine...we only have one more day of MCA Science testing...yeah!

Happy May Day!
Research update....several were not prepared with numbering notes or topic sentences completed today. We allowed a good 60 + minutes to get this finished and start their INTRODUCTIONS and CONCLUSIONS. A reminder that these need to "flow" not just put the topic sentences in the intro. Have your child work on it tonight and read it aloud and have them "hear" what they wrote. This is a helpful tool. Only 6 kids had their intros and conclusions checked off ahead of time. This means 22 kids still have to finish it tonight! I will be checking them tomorrow morning!
We also have a Science test tomorrow; we prepared, reviewed, and studied today. We will get there bit by bit. We also looked at 10 day forcast....this looks promising! Not the next 5 days...but turn around is coming on Monday. Thanks for your help!

Hello!
Warm weather finally has arrived....glad we have had a few days to enjoy this tremendous change. BEWARE...there is a change ahead I have heard.
Progress Reports will be coming home today. Please review this carefully. We have a solid month of school left and we will work hard to ensure LS PRIDE is followed! Many slacked these past two weeks. I attribute we are out of routine due to our testing schedule. So the consistency hasn't been there of routine, however the system is still in place at end of each day to write in our planners what the assignments are. Focusing on independence and maintaining discipline for these last few weeks will be important. Please review, sign, and return the PROGRESS REPORT. Thank you. Several missed a chance to head outside due to missing work. They can work on prioritizing and using class time effectively and avoid study hall. We can do it! There have been several "teachable" moments these past few weeks.
Our "Testing Season" is just about complete. We end with State MCA Science tests on Monday and Tuesday. All results will be available in TIES this upcoming Fall and a report will be mailed to you at the beginning of next school year. MAP scores will be available hopefully when we send home the report cards now at end of year. It is fun to see their progress, it is tough to remain focused during these test sessions!
Research Reports are coming along. We will spend this afternoon and tomorrow solidly working on getting students comfortable still with the process. Rough copy of their report due on Monday, May 6. FINAL COPY typed and due Tuesday, May 14!!!
I will try to update schedule and specialist calendar this week. Many fun activities happening these last few weeks. Any reinforcement you can do with paying attention, THINKING about actions, doing their best, RAISING their hands, LISTENING and FOLLOWING Directions IMMEDIATELY, I would appreciate it. It would be great to end the year on a positive note. One month to finalize their preparations for next year. Where did our time go?!?! Enjoy this last day of warmth for a while...then dress appropriately for the weather the end of this week!

Can you believe the weather?! It has been a long time since we have had significant snow fall in April! Sounds like even another system is coming possibly next week. It is somewhat helpful in keeping the kids focused somewhat here at school.
One highlight for this week...PROGRESS REPORTS are coming home today. They indicate a few behaviors needing our attention. With the testing schedule, we have not had our daily routine. This has caused some behaviors to surface that need more discipline. They need to work on raising their hand, listening, following directions immediately. Their individual reports show what they can work on. Any reinforcement from you would be appreciative.
As for our individual RESEARCH REPORTS, more information along with due dates will come home next week. Please have them select a topic in U.S. History for their personal research. They need to have their topic selected by Monday. If they can print any resources from the internet at home and bring it by Tuesday, that would be helpful to start the process. We will begin taking notes on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday. Thank you! More information will follow.
Enjoy the weekend! We did finish our MCA Reading....yeah! We have a 2 week break before we take the MCA Math on April 29 and April 30!
Mrs. O
