Field Trip to Murphy's Landing

We visited a living history
museum about Minnesota pioneer
life in the 1800's. This is what
we wrote as a class for our
language work in reading, writing,
vocabulary, and grammar:

Our class went to a pioneer
musuem. It had many houses and a
farm. The weather was warm and
sunny. We saw a trading post from
1844. We saw the house of a rich
man. It had an organ and lights.
We saw a school and a General
Store. We saw the shops and homes
from 150 years ago. Settlers had a
hard life. We liked the museum.

The Trading Post 1844.

Animal were trapped for their
furs. Furs were traded for food,
clothing, and everything settlers
needed to live.
