Math: Envision Workshops taught by Molly Fernholz and Ron Lenoch EnVision Math Topics of Study • Numeration • Adding Whole Numbers • Subtraction Number Sense • Subtracting Whole Numbers to Solve Problems • Multiplication Meanings and Facts • Multiplication Fact Strategies: Use Known Facts • Division Meanings • Division Facts • Patterns and Relationships • Solids and Shapes • Congruence and Symmetry • Understanding Fractions • Decimals and Money • Customary Measurement • Metric Measurement • Perimeter, Area, and Volume • Time and Temperature • Multiplying Greater Numbers • Dividing with 1- Digit Numbers • Data, Graphs, and Probability Each new topic is shared in detail with parents through a Home-Connection Letter. Each topic contains: *Center activities *Vocabulary cards *Home-School Connections *Problem of the day *Review Questions Practice *Enrichment *Assessments Home-School Connections is a parent letter that will be sent home at the start of each topic (unit). The letter will describe the objectives that will be taught. Please read carefully and we encourage you to play the games that are mentioned in the letters. Math Homework may be assigned each night to ensure daily practice outside of workshops. EnVision Math contains a variety of teaching strategies to fit many learning styles. Social Studies taught by Jane Erickson Units Taught: Self-Awareness, Family Heriatge/Immigration, Maps and Globes, Communities & Current Events Science taught by Melissa Kaffine Units taught: Measurement, Magnetism and Electricty, Water, Structures of Life, Matter and Energy and Science Fair Project (look for more to come later) Writing taught by Carrie O'Reilly Writing is taught using the Four Square Method and Six Traits.
