Homework

Each night please check your child's "TAKE-HOME" FOLDER. Often you'll find
papers to remove and keep at home and HOMEWORK to be completed, signed, and
returned to school, either the next day, or within a few days.

Our homework will often be READING PRACTICE. More than once is best! At
school we often say, "The more we read, the better we get!"

Reading: Each week your child will be bringing home two decodeable readers.
Please have your child read the stories at least 3 times. Please also
discuss the story and practice reading some of the words in isolation. Please
sign the little slip and add comments if necessary.

On Wednesday of each week, I will send home with your child a sheet
called "Ten Important Sentences" . Your child has read this story earlier
in the week. Now I would like to see if they can read it without using
pictures. Encourage them to use their "pointer" as they read. Please have
your child read this 3 times. Sign and return sheet.

SPELLING WORD PRACTICE is another good way to help your child
succeed in school. Students always feel so good when they've studied their
spelling words at home!

Spelling: Test each Friday or the last day of school for the week. There are
twelve words on the test. At this time I will not count them wrong if they
are backwards but continue to practice writing those letters.

See Links for some great ways to practice reading words and playing great
Spelling games and math games.

Math: At the beginning of the topic I will be sending home a "Home-School
Connection". This is a great reference as to what your child will be leaning
for the week. Student will also be bringing home a "math booklet" to read
and explain how they solved the problem.

  THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP!
