Hi! My name is Jesse Olmschenk, but usually I have my students call me Mr. O
since it is a lot easier to say! I am super excited to start the year and to
be teaching kindergarten. This is my second year teaching kindergarten at
Pine Island. One of the biggest transitions that I have made this school year
is moving to a new classroom. My room is now located at the end of the
Kindergarten Wing in room E102! One other exciting event that I did this
summer was to go on vacation to Maui! My wife Lori and I finally were able to
take our Honeymoon! Here is a little more about me.
I grew up on a farm near Melrose, Minnesota. I loved growing up in the
country and I think that is why I was so attracted to Pine Island. I
graduated from high school in Melrose and then attended the University of
Minnesota Duluth. I obtained a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Elementary
Education, with a minor in Psychology. I am also a licensed 5-8 grade Social
Studies teacher!
Besides being busy with school, I am also married to my lovely wife, Lori!
Lori, is a sonographer for the Mayo Clinic in La Crosse,
Wisconsin. We will be celebrating our one-year anniversary this October. I
can't believe how fast time flies.
When I am not teaching some of my favorite hobbies are fishing, water
activities (slalom skiing, wake-boarding, swimming), reading (especially
children's books), watching movies, grilling in the backyard, watching any
sports live or on TV, playing basketball and catch with the baseball, visiting
friends, traveling, and trying new things!
I hope this helps to get a bit of an idea about what I am like and where I am
coming from! I know it will be a great year as long as we all work together!
