Math Masters is an advanced Math Competition open to interested qualifying students from the 5th and 6th grade. In 5th grade, students request a preparation packet., work independently on challenging math problems for several weeks, and take a team qualifying test in the spring. The highest scorers on that test then meet with the enrichment coordinator weekly to prepare for the regional Math Masters meet - a one time competition at Lakeville High School. In 6th grade, Ms. Fridgen works with the Math Masters problems periodically in the advanced math class. A team qualifying test is given to determine the team which competes in the regional meet in the spring. Optional math help sessions are held once a week after school from Dec. through Mar. for any 5th/6th grade students interested in getting additional help preparing for the qualifying test. There is also an optional November Math Meet open to Math Masters' students - information on participation is in the Math Masters folders.
