First Grade- Students will begin to study the Spanish alphabet and letter sounds. We will learn an alphabet song, practice spelling and play letter games.
Second Grade- Students will study vocabulary for the months, seasons and days of the week in Spanish using songs, movements and games. We will add clothing and weather into our unit and compare and contrast the characteristics of each season. Students will create posters for each of the four seasons.
Third Grade- Students will study family vocabulary and create their own family trees in Spanish. We will learn a family song, new games and rhymes.
Fourth Grade- Continuing in our Animales unit students will read various stories from Spanish speaking countries that focus on animals. In small groups students will then act out their stories for the class.
Fifth Grade- We will complete our unit of Spanish vocabulary for the parts of the body. Students will describe how they are feeling in greater detail and review direct articles. Body Parts Quiz Wednesday, December 16th.
Sixth Grade- Students will continue to practice -AR verb conjugations as we move into Unidad 2B in which we will look at the irregular verb ESTAR and build classroom vocabulary as well as describe where things are located.
7th Grade- Students will complete their Unidad 3B Recipe Projects. The seventh graders have translated recipes to Spanish and will now present them to the class. Students may choose to work in groups to present in front of the class, make a video cooking show or create a cookbook. Projects are due Jan. 7th (72 and 73) and Jan. 8th (71).
8th Grade- Students will begin Unidad 6 (La Casa-The Home) in which we will look at vocabulary for the rooms, furniture and appliances and household chores. Students will design a floor plan of their own home or their dream home. We will also look at grammar expressions used to give directions or commands and the present progressive (-ing ending) in Spanish.
