      After Christmas, the seventh graders will journey through Middle Earth with Bilbo Baggins in
J. R. R. Tolkien's The Hobbit.  As Bilbo and his dwarf companions battle goblins, giant spiders, trolls and dragons, he discovers within himself reserves of ingenuity and courage that he did not know he possessed.

     The eighth-graders have traveled back to 1930s California to follow the dreams and best-laid plans of George and Lennie in John Steinbeck's classic, Of Mice and Men.  After the break we will begin Harper Lee's classic To Kill a Mockingbird.

 

     The independent reading deadline for third trimester is March 3.
