Welcome to the 2009-10 school year. Classes are well under way and the Jr. High is already
learning the techniques of graphite drawing. The eighth grade students have started their first
illustration. The subject matter is a chipmunk or squirrel. Both of these subjects have different
backgrounds that challenge each student to perform to the best of their ability. There will be three
drawing completed in this unit. The seventh grade students have taken on a complete different
format to complete a drawing. Each student creates a grid on the subject that they are drawing and
also produces a grid on the drawing paper. These grids are identical. By producing a grid to draw
by, the information in an illustration is broken down into simplified areas making understanding
what we are drawing easier.
Art Club will be starting the week of Sept. 21st. It is open to any Jr. High student.
