MUSIC NEWS

As the 8th Grade General Music class continued the unit on careers in music they discovered how music affects our mood by listening to music from various movies.  Then they acted as the composer and described the tempo, dynamics and instruments they would use in a certain scene from a movie.
Before Christmas, the students learned about George Frideric Handel and his famous oratorio “The Messiah”.  We listened to the beautiful and powerful “Hallelujah Chorus”.
We have been practicing some songs for Mass in class and I’m impressed with their strong singing.   They are looking forward to learning the basics on the guitar soon.

The Junior High Choir did an outstanding job singing at the Christmas Concert.  I had many people comment on their beautiful harmony and their a cappella singing.  This group has a very good sense of pitch and was able to stay in tune during the song “King of Kings”.
In January, the choir will be preparing for the Catholic Schools Week Kick-Off Mass on Sunday, January 31st at 9:00a.m. in the church.  I hope to see you there for this wonderful celebration of our school.

God bless you and have a Merry Christmas with your family!!
