This fall begins my 32nd year in education. I have had the privilege of serving Catholic communities
during these 32 years. After graduating from the College of St. Benedict, I became a volunteer
teacher (Grades 5-8) in a small town in Colorado through the VIDA (Volunteers in Diocesan Action)
program for two years. I also served small mountain communities as a music minister on the
weekends.
I joined the St. Josephs School faculty in 1980 and taught in grades four to six. I assumed assistant
principal responsibilities that evolved from part-time to full-time over a number of years. During
this transition, I enjoyed teaching JH computer skills, JH general math, JH study skills and finally, JH
English. While as an assistant principal, I completed a masters degree in curriculum and
instruction at the University of St. Thomas and completed work for an educational specialists degree
in 2000.
In 1999, I became the principal of St. Mary of the Lake School in White Bear Lake. While I enjoyed
serving the St. Mary of the Lake community in an administrative capacity, I missed the classroom
experiences and returned to St. Josephs School in 2003 as a sixth grade teacher. I rejoined the JH
faculty in 2004.
