¿Qué Pasa? ~ Monthly Update

Kindergarten: Students will study the body parts in Spanish. We will play Simon Says, the Hokey Pokey and sing Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes and A tu ti ta in Spanish.
First Grade: First graders will work with animal names using the Spanish version of Brown Bear, Brown Bear and sign language.
Second Grade: We begin to study the months, seasons and weather in Spanish, learn how to create the date and talk about our birthdays.
Third Grade: Students will learn vocabulary and structures for La Familia in Spanish. We will describe family members and create a Spanish family tree.
Fourth Grade: We will begin a unit on Animals in Spanish. Students will learn the names of various animals and how to describe their colors and sizes. Students will participate in a Spanish show and tell of a family pet or favorite animal and complete animal skits in small groups.
Fifth Grade: We will begin Unidad 1: Actividades (Activities). Students will study vocabulary for hobbies and activities and learn how to express their likes and dislikes in Spanish.
Sixth Grade: 6th graders will continue in Unidad 3: La Comida (Food). We will study vocabulary and structures related to food, preferences, ordering and recipes. Students will create a Menu for a restaurant in Spanish and translate a favorite recipe to present to the class.
Seventh Grade: Students will continue in Unidad 5: La Familia (Family). We will review family vocabulary, the verbs tener, ser and estar, and their meanings and uses. Students will design their own family tree, write a descriptive essay and present their family to the class in Spanish.
Eighth Grade: The 8th graders will begin in Unidad 8: Ir de vacaciones (On vacation). Students will learn vocabulary and structures to describe vacations and sightseeing. Students will also continue to work with past tense verb conjugations (-er/-ir and irregulars).
