Dr. Oz's HABITS OF HEALTHY FAMILIES(HEALTH.COM)
1.
Don't go hungry.
In addition to the three main meals eat snacks in between. Almonds are a good choice.
2. Automate Breakfast and lunch.
Have a healthy, go to option for each.
3. Exercise 20 minutes a day AT HOME!
You're more likely to get 20 minutes in at home than carve out 1 hour to get to the gym. Do a video, go for a walk, or skip rope in your driveway!
4. Be the food decider in your house.
The big decisions about what to eat need to be made by the parents at the supermarket. Don't bring home the chips and cookies! Choose healthy options like nuts, pretzels, fruit, and veggies.
5. Eat dinner together every night.
Studies show that if you want your kids to have an appreciation of how precious their bodies are, you can't beat sitting down together!
6. Play together every day.
Carve out a reliable pocket of time when you can be active together as a family.
7. Let your children police you.
Talk to your children about smart-eating goals and encourage them to call you out if you grab junk food.
8. Tell little ones bed time stories.
Or talk to older ones about their day. Before they go to bed is a prime time for kids to really open up. It's when you hear what is really on their mind.
9. Make sure
you
have a bedtime routine.
Half of American adults have lost the ability to sleep. Keep your bedroom cool and dark, and nix the technology. If don't get to sleep in 15 minutes don't sweat it. Read or meditate to relax.
