<div> After Christmas, the seventh graders will journey through Middle Earth with Bilbo Baggins in<br /> J. R. R. Tolkien's <em><strong>The Hobbit</strong></em>. As Bilbo and his dwarf companions battle goblins, giant spiders, trolls and dragons, he discovers within himself reserves of ingenuity and courage that he did not know he possessed.<br /> <br /> </div> <div> The eighth-graders have traveled back to 1930s California to follow the dreams and best-laid plans of George and Lennie in John Steinbeck's classic, <em><strong>Of Mice and Men</strong></em>. After the break we will begin Harper Lee's classic <em><strong>To Kill a Mockingbird</strong></em>.<br /> </div> <div> </div> <div> The independent reading deadline for third trimester is March 3. <br /> </div>
