I was born in St. Paul, Mn. and grew up in the Twin Cities. After
graduating
from the Edina High School in 1968, I went on to receive my bachelor's
degree
in German at the College of St. Thomas. My wife, Elaine, and I have
been
married for 28 years. We have two daughters, Gretchen and Danielle,
who are
currently working on their degrees at Winona State and the University of
Southern California, respectively.
At St. Wenceslaus School, we believe that world languages are a tool
we may use to understand other people and diverse world cultures.
Learning a foreign language involves raising a student’s
consciousness and appreciation of different means of communication.
We believe that students should develop an appreciation of these
means of communication through the use of positive activities and
challenges. Learning to become proficient in a second language also
provides students with a real-life skill and a broader worldview, both of
which are important for students to become global citizens, as Jesus
was.
