Dear Parents,

 

Look for an invitation today to our Thanksgiving plays to be held on Tuesday the 24th.  I hope you can join us to celebrate the holiday.  Grandparents are welcome to join us as well.

 

A reminder that your child can receive a flu shot here at school if you desire.  We have a had a small steady flow of absences from school--some flu related and some not.

 

A peek at the week:

 

In reading we looked for details in text and pictures to help us understand what we read.  I'll be doing new running records on the children's fluency now that we are almost at the end of the trimester.  With the new trimester will come spelling words to learn.

 

In math, we have looked at number lines, number patterns, and number models.  We will soon be working on memorizing facts.

 

In religion, we discussed ways that God speaks to us.  We discovered that silence offers us a time to listen to and speak to God.  You might be surprised at the many times your child prays.

 

In social studies, we are learning about the first Thanksgiving and will learn how the Wampanoag natives lived in the area. 

 

I sent home a book order due November 20.  If you would like me to hold back any items for Christmas gifts, please let me know.

 

The children were so well behaved on our field trip to Old Log Theater.  We had a great day.
