I am a graduate of St Wenceslaus School and NPHS.
I received a BA from the College of St. Catherine with majors in Psychology
and Elementary Education as well as a Coaching Certificate. But after turning
down an offer to teach 7th and 8th grade religion and science in a Catholic
school on the east side of St. Paul, I ended up in the health insurance
industry for 8 years.
My teaching experience includes substitute teaching in the New
Prague/Montgomery schools. I was originally hired at St. Wenceslaus School to
teach 2nd grade. After teaching for 9 years, I was asked to move up to the
5th /6th grade floor where I taught 5th grade for 3 years. I was again asked
to make a move - to the 7th and 8th grade level - to teach religion and
performing arts. God has been persistent. It is clear that this is part of
his plan for me. I am happy. In celbrating the sacrament of Reconciliation
one day, I had an argument with the priest. I told him that I had the best
job in the world. He argued that he had the best job in the world. We agreed
to disagree. But perhaps he was right.
I do not know what God holds for me. But right now I feel drawn to the arena
of social justice. I am actively involved in our parish social justice
committee. I advocate for our missions in Guatemala. I have made 4 trips
there (2 adult and 2 youth) to different locations. I hope to make a 5th trip
to Guatemala, Summer '10 to see our darling Geissel before she finishes the
6th grade at New Hope School.
I love to read and go for walks. I do not like to file insurance claims!
