10/7 - Wednesday brings the 7th grade vocabulary test for chapter one. They
need to do the review pages in their book. Book reports are also due tomorrow.
8th graders will take the chapter 1.2 vocabulary test. The third section will
be due next Tuesday. Their book reports are due on Thursday.
10/6 - 8th graders are taking math Learnia tests Monday and Tuesday. 7th
graders have a vocab review test tomorrow. All grades have spelling this week,
Unit 2.
10/2 - 4th hour 7th grade English needs to bring the draft of their business
letter tomorrow. All 7th graders have spelling and vocabulary due next week.
7th graders should review the 30 unit 1 vocab words for their final test next
Wednesday.
8th graders have vocab and spelling too - chapter 3 in spelling and unit 1.2
in vocabulary.
9/30 - 7th graders had Learnia testing today. 4th hour needs to have their
business letter for their book report done for Friday. Vocab quiz tomorrow.
8th grade needs to do spelling chapter 3 and vocab 1.2. Keep working on those
book reports!
9/29 - 8th graders had Learnia testing today.
7th graders were given the chance to read or study. Work on those book reports!
9/26 - All 7th and 8th graders need to work on their book reports!
9/24 - 7th graders have been working on pronouns - stretching their brains in
directions they have never gone before. They have also been working on the
third unit in their vocabulary books. Keep up with spelling and book reports.
8th graders are learning complements - another brain stretcher. No homework
except vocab and spelling and that pesky book report.
9/22 - all students have ch. 4 spelling this week. They also have Word Wisdom
pages. Don't forget - book reports are due the first week of October!
9/19 - Read this weekend while you are waiting for the parade to start!
9/18 Tomorrow, 8th graders will have an open-note quiz on the 8 parts of
speech. 7th graders are still working through pronouns together as a class.

9/17 - Kids have not had homework for the last few days other than spelling
and vocab.
Spelling homework is pp. 34-37. Vocab for 7th graders us unit 2.

9/11 - 8th graders are doing a super job on their PowerPoints!
7th graders do not have homework today other than to do their spelling and
vocabulary homework.
September 10 - Because of Marathon, I didn't see 7th graders today, so their
articles are due tomorrow.
8th graders have been working in groups on their parts of speech PowerPoints.

September 8 - 7th graders have an article assignment. They need to write for a
magazine as if they were interviewing themselves. They should pick their
favorite activity and pretend they are a star at it and are being featured in
a publication. Due Wed.
8th grade is working on a PowerPoint presentation on an assigned part of
speech. They will be presenting on Friday.
All classes will have a spelling list this week. Watch for it!
September 5 - We made it through the first week!
8th graders do not have homework this weekend. They can always read!
7th graders were assigned a "Bio Poem" - due Monday. Their book reports are
due October 8. The report is 3 parts: a letter to Steven Spielberg, a picture
and description of the setting of the book, a list of actors and their
pictures that should star in the movie.
September 4 - 8th graders need to finish their "I AM" poem for Friday. There
is a template for it on the assignment sheet.
7th graders need to turn in their bumperstickers tomorrow. This should be a
slogan of less than four words that describes them artistically rendered on
the sheet of paper they got in class.

September 3 - 7th grade bumperstickers are due Friday.
8th grade - "I AM" poems are due Friday. Refer to the example sheet for
instructions.
Both grades need to remember to get their signed "Rules and Expectations"
sheets in by Friday. Also, please send us your email address with a fact about
your student that we may not otherwise guess! Thanks!

7th and 8th graders both have an interest survey and a short letter to do
tonight. There are no wrong
answers! I just want to get to know you! Parents, please read and sign the
"Goals and Expectations"
sheet sent home today. It outlines my classroom expectations and all the cool
English stuff we get to
do. Thanks!
