Imagine that today there is a bill being introduced in Congress to reinstate
the 18th Amendment thus prohibiting the manufacturing, and sale of
alchohol. You are Senator Mark Dayton's historical
advisors. He needs your help in deciding whether or not he should vote for
this bill. You will need to research the history of Prohibition, its
effectiveness and other results of the 18th Amendment. You may also
consider recent statistics on alcohol in the U.S. today and the
effectiveness of today's Prohibition of many drugs. One of you will
need to research evidence in support for Prohibition, while the other needs
to research evidence against Prohibition.
Your task is to write a 3 paragraph recommendation to Senator Dayton. The
first paragraph will need to cite evidence for Prohibition, the 2nd
paragraph against Prohbition and the third paragraph should weigh this
evidence and give your final recommendation on whether he should vote for
the bill.
