Three teams representing the Carl Junction Junior High and CJ Sixth Grade recently competed in the regional Traveling Academic Challenge. Traveling Academic Challenge is a series of five subject-based academic bowls that include Language Arts, Science, Math, History, and Humanities. Placing first in the “B” category of the Humanities Academic Bowl was the team of Trenton Rogers, Alex Hendrickson, Cyrus Bolinger, and Edith Sigler. The team of Mark Arnce, Zak Brown, Jenna Thompson, Brooks Neria, and Taylor Howard tied for second in the “6th “ grade bracket. The CJ team of Zach Snodgrass, Jack Shipley, Erin Psajdl, and Justice Hylton tied for third in the “A” bracket.
Schools are awarded cumulative points for placing at the five bowls. Carl Junction won first overall in the “A” bracket, the “B” bracket, and the “6th” grade bracket.
Congratulations to our Junior High Traveling Academic Bowl teams. They participate in the math portion of the bowl at Lamar Middle School. Placing first in the “B” bracket was the team of Cyrus Bolinger, Matthew Bennish, Trenton Rogers, and Edith Sigler. Placing third in the “A” bracket was the team of Erin Psajdl, Brian Warner, Zach Snodgrass, and Maria Chism.
Congratulations are also extended to our sixth grade traveling academic bowl team. The team of Kaden Cupp, Brooks Neria, Will Bebee, Aaron Skiles, and Paeden LeMasters were undefeated and placed first in the competition. Schools participating in the academic bowl were: Carl Junction, College Heights,Thomas Jefferson Independent Day School, Diamond, Lamar,Saint Peters, Monett, and Joplin East.

The sixth grade team of Mark Arnce, Brooks Neria, Zak Brown, Taylor Howard, and Amber Jasonplaced third in the sixth grade bracket of the tournament.

We also had three sixth grade students on a "fill" team for the tournament.Taylor Howard, Hope Gardner, and Zak Brown were on the fill team and they won six rounds and only lost one!
