<p>4/16/12</p><p>Dear Parents:</p><p> *** Reading: We will be reading a variety of nonfiction texts. We will be searching for the text features that we have been learning about. (headings, captions, bullets, graphs etc.) Everyone did a super job presenting their book boxes. Reading homework will be a free choice reading for 10 minutes.</p><p>*** Word Work <strong><span style='font-family: "Comic Sans MS";'>Focus Skill:</span></strong><span style='font-family: "Comic Sans MS";'>Final, stable syllables –tion, -ture</span></p><p><span style='font-family: "Comic Sans MS";'>These syllables are found at the end of longer words. </span></p><p><span style='font-family: "Comic Sans MS";'> <strong>-tion </strong>(action, injection) </span><span style='font-family: "Comic Sans MS";'> <strong>-ture</strong> (sculpture, pasture)</span></p><p><u>Bonus Words this week: collision, gravity, friction</u></p><p>*** Math: We are going to take a break from our Everyday Math program this week. We will be working on counting money, reading graphs, and double digit addition & subtraction with regrouping. Please spend some time at home helping your child count mixed change. We will continue to work on our math facts.</p><p>*** Science: We will learning about gravity this week.</p><p>*** Field trip to MSSU to watch a play on Friday April 27<sup>th</sup>. We will be leaving school at 8:30am to be that the college by 9:15am. Permission slips went home on Tuesday April 10<sup>th</sup>. Please sign & return the permission slip along with 50 cents ASAP. If I don’t have a signed permission slip, then your child cannot go with us to MSSU. Please shoot me an email if you need a 2<sup>nd</sup>copy of the permission slip.</p><p>*** Cadet teachers: We have enjoyed having two cadet teachers come to our classroom from the high school. Both of the girls are seniors. They have done a fantastic job in our room working with the kids. I’m sure that many of you have heard your children talking about Emily and Rickie. I would like to give them a little surprise party before they leave us & I would like for our class to buy each of them a small gift.
