About The Teacher
Welcome to first grade! I am so excited for a new year and all the fun that is to be had in our class. My husband and I are both K-State graduates. Chris works for State Farm Insurance, via telecommuting from Bloomington, IL. My wonderful husband Chris and I share two little ones. Dylan is 7 and will be in third grade and Emmy is 5 and entering kindergarten. When I am not teaching, I enjoy traveling, reading romance novels, baking/ decorating cookies, having family movie nights, and spending time with friends. Some of favorite things are Starbucks coffee, dark chocolate, Italian food, and Sonic drinks. I also enjoy taking walks and spending time with my family. Reading is my passion! Not only do I enjoy reading to my first graders, but I also enjoy reading professional books. Learning from the "masters" in the profession encourages me to be a better teacher. Thanks to "The Sisters", this year I am embarking on a new journey called the Daily 5. It is a new way to teach independent reading and writing skills. I want you to know that my interests are embedded within my classroom. Your children will be cooking/baking, engaged in author studies,(Laura Ingalls Wilder is my favorite), and digging into science and social studies through read alouds and hands on activities. I am looking forward to spending time with your children. Thank you for sharing them with me and allowing me the opportunity to watch them grow throughout the year.
