Weekly Newsletter

Many students are having trouble returning their homework.  Remember that homework comes home on Monday (Reading & Math), Tuesday (Math) and Thursday (Math) and that one entry is required on your child’s Reading Log on Friday.  As an incentive we are going to be having a Hot Chocolate Club!  Every student that returns his/her homework all week plus has his/her folder signed each night will get to enjoy a cup of hot chocolate on Friday.

There are many special notes coming home tonight so be sure to go through your child’s papers.  One note is about 3rd Quarter Parent Teacher Conferences and the other is about Pizza Hut Night and a 100th Day of School project!

We will not be having a Valentine’s Day party but will be exchanging Valentine’s cards on Friday. Feb. 12th.  There is a class list attached to this newsletter.  Please have the cards here by February 11th!

BIST Tip:  When confronted for misbehavior, children will often respond in one of the following ways:  denial, anger, or blame.  When children deny or respond, “Why?” or “What did I do?” adults can respond with “Great question!”  When children get angry they sometimes shut down.  Adults need to set limits and follow through.  If children try to blame others by saying something like, “He did it too,” or “I’m not the only one,” an appropriate adult response would be, “I know this is really hard.”  In order to change misbehavior, children must be held accountable for their actions.
