Dear Parents,

Congratulations to your second grader on the reception of the Sacrament of Reconciliation!  I was so proud of how reverent the children were while entering the church and waiting for their turn.  You were very respectful, as well.  We really appreciate your support in teaching the children proper church behavior.  Thank you!

This week in religion we will continue to discuss the Season of Advent.  The children seem to be enjoying the Advent prayers and songs we say and sing after lunch each day!

In reading we will be learning about ‘ey’ and ‘y’ making the long e sound at the end of two part words.  Our story this week is a folktale from Laos and is called, Nine in One, Grr Grr.  It has beautiful illustrations that we will enjoy.

In math we will continue to work patterns and finish up this chapter.  Keep practicing those math facts!!!

Just a reminder… all hats for the Guardian Angel Settlement are due on December 16th.  No collections will be taken after that date.

Tuesday, December 8th, is the Feast of the Immaculate Conception of Mary and is a holy day of obligation.  We will not have school on that day, so please remember to bring your children to Mass to celebrate this beautiful feast day of Mary.

Next week Friday, December 11th, is our day for the gingerbread house activity and also our Mass in which we will plan and participate.  The children and I will come back to our classroom after Mass and use the restroom and take lunch count.  We should be in the lower cafeteria by 9:00 and we must be finished by 10:30 so we can prepare for lunch.  You will go directly to the lower cafeteria from church.  If you are not able to attend the gingerbread house project and cannot get someone to take your place, please let me know in advance so I can hook your child up with another family.  Please be here a few minutes prior to that. The children get very upset if their parents aren’t there when we get there.

Thanks to Jennifer Knapp and her helpers for making our sheep for Reconciliation.  Sr. Eileen used to make them for all of the grades and we did not want to lose that lovely tradition.  We really appreciate it!

Only 17 more day of shopping left.  We are close to being finished, are you?!?!  Have fun!!!!

Prepare a way of the Lord.  Get ready.   He’s coming soon.
