Frequently Asked QuestionsFrequently Asked Questions: This page contains answers to common questions of students and parents.
What can I do to help my child get better grades? Encourage your child to study math facts and vocabulary for at least 5-10 minutes every night. Review religion and study guides. Check that your child has completed assigned homework. Your child needs to do some independent reading each night. What should my child be doing in class to improve grades? Children should be paying attention to what is being taught, ready to answer questions. They should ask questions if they don't understand. They should follow directions on tests and quizzes, make sure they answer all questions, and check their work before they turn it in. Why didn't my child do better on the test? If a child doesn't do well on a test, there are usually two reasons why. 1- The child did not learn the material. He or she may not understand it, and hasn't asked for help. The child may seem to know it, right after it is taught, but it doesn't go into long- term memory, so it hasn't really been learned. 2 - The child did not read the test or the answers carefully, so they made careless mistakes or left out answers. Some children do this because they are in a hurry to be done, and others do it because they are convinced that they know it all and will be right. Look back at the answers to the other questions to see how to help your child. |
