Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
It's December now and the countdown to Christmas begins! We have been busy
preparing for our Christmas Music Program. Please have the children bring in
their red and white Santa hats! St Nicholas visited our class on Friday
morning and left the children new coloring books and candy canes. We made
Santa faces and reindeer heads in Art this week.
Our Christmas program will be Tuesday,
December 15, at 9:30 AM up in Rosario Hall. All 3 Kindergartens will perform
at the same time. They are singing some really cute songs and can't wait to
share them with you. Hope to see you there! Remember, our class will wear red,
holiday or plain, shirts/turtlenecks and jeans for the program.
They may come dressed to school in their show clothes that morning.
Your child brought home an Advent countdown
chain this week! We made them with our fourth grade buddies in Mrs. Huck's
class and talked about Advent being a time of waiting and getting our hearts
ready for Jesus! They were told to do one good deed every day and then pull
off one link. When they get to the last link it will be Christmas!
Please remember that all 3 Kindergarten
classes are collecting money to help aid St. Pius V parish. Mrs. Thieret's
brother is the pastor there and we have chosen to assist their parish. Please
remember we are collecting cash only and contributions should be turned in by
next Friday, December 11, so we can deliver before Christmas. Thank you for
your continued generosity. We wish you could see what we see when your
children bring in their food pantry contributions and St. Pius donations. They
are smiling from ear to ear and so proud of what they are doing. Together,
with you, we are teaching our children the importance of community service to
those in need.
Also, as the weather gets colder, please
remember to dress your children warmly. We will go outside if the wind chill
is above 20 degrees. Hats, gloves, mittens, and scarves are a must. Please
practice with them zipping their coats and putting on thier gloves.
Markers will be allowed for use after Christmas.
It's a great stocking stuffer. Just make sure they are the 8 basic colors and
washable.
Please teach your child thier birthday,
telephone number and address. I will be asking the children next week to tell
me what they are. These are important numbers for them to know and are on
their report card as a skill that needs to be mastered.
READING
We introduced the letter "Oo" this week. It
makes the "ahh" sound. Our book this week was "Nat is my Cat." Please read
with your child, sign and return so they can read it to me the next day. Our
new sight word for the week was "you."
RELIGION
We have been learning about Advent and that
it is a time that we are waiting for Jesus. We heard the story of St. Nick and
colored his picture.
MATH
We reviewed identifying and writing the
numbers 1-10. We worked on learning ordianal numbers-first, second, third,
fourth and fifth.
