How much homework is usual for 3rd grade?

For 3rd grade, 30 minutes each night is usually the amount. Additional time
will be needed to memorize prayers, math facts, or work on special projects
such as Book Reports. Some students might require more time
to learn and write correctly their weekly spelling words.

How can I help encourage my child to do their best each day.

Parents can provide a good breakfast each day and make sure their child is
getting enough rest each night. Encourage your child to pay attention and
listen to each lesson that is presented. Encourage your child to ask
questions if they are not understanding. Parents can check your child's
homework after they are finished. These strategies will give your child the
confidence in themselves that is needed to do well each day.

What should we do if my child is not meeting their A.R. goal.

Students can not wait until the last week or days before their A.R. goal is
required. They have all quarter to read. They have every morning and several
times throughout the day to take A.R. tests. I encourage students to read
each night. This is part of their homework everynight. Then I encourage them
to come to school and take an A.R. test.
