Testing

 Lincoln Elementary Assessments

The purposes of testing in the Elementary are varied. Before a child enters Kindergarten they are screened with the Dial 3 instrument. This gives us information as to what skills the child has already acquied in the areas of Language, Concepts and Motor Skills. This helps us assess the developmental level of your child.

Grades K-2 are given the Standford Achievement Test in the spring. This comprehensive, nationally normed test, not only gives an indication of the level your child is working, but help teachers in planning curriculum and grouping for instruction. Test results are typically sent home two to three weeks after testing is completed.

Grade 3 is given a School Ability test called the Otis-Lennon. It is used as a screening device for gifted and Special Services.

Grades 3-6, in accordance with the mandated No Child Left Behind, is involved in the Missouri Assessment Plan (MAP). Depending on the grade level, students may test in one, two or three subject areas. This testing is done in April. Results are given to parents and explained at the Fall Parent/Teacher Conferences.

Sometimes additional testing is needed. If that is the case, parents are notified and parental permission is requested.
