Weekly Spelling:
Each week your child will have 5 new Dolch Sight Words to learn. I will send home a homework packet each Monday that will have activities to complete throughout the week using the new words. This packet will need to be returned to school on Friday in your child's S.M.I.L.E. book.

Weekly Reading:
Your child will be placed in a reading group or "Book Club" to learn reading strategies and become a better reader. Most nights your child will bring home a book to read with you. Please find a comfortable spot and time for your child to read to you. The best way to become a better reader is to READ, READ, READ!

Weekly Math:
The math program used currently in our school is Saxon Math. Each day your child will have a mini math lesson , hands-on practice, and a worksheet to complete together as a class. In addition, your child will have a math page to complete for homework. These math pages are on the reverse side of the class pages completed together whole-group. Each page should take no longer than 10 minutes to complete. Please look over your child's homework and help them to correct any errors, leaving a note for me on the page with any concerns you may have about your child's math skills.

Class projects:
Periodically, your child will bring home a class project assignment to be completed by a certain date and then returned to class. These are meant to be enjoyable projects to work on together as a family. Please go to the "Class Projects" page for a listing of our projects by the month.
