What is Hey Day?

Hey Day is a day when we do not have classes. There are a variety of
activities all intended to welcome the Freshmen. Each level has an
activity for the Freshmen. These are determined by the Moderators and the
class officers. In the past, the Sophomores decorate their lockers and
organized a scavenger's hunt. Juniors dress them up for a Freshmen parade.
Seniors will eat lunch with the Freshmen and they will have a ceremony where
the Freshmen go on the state and do something, then they will receive a
beanie. Juniors will dress Freshmen up for a Freshmen parade. Seniors will
eat lunch with the Freshmen and they will have a ceremony where the Freshmen
go on the Stage and do something, then they receive a beanie and say a pledge.

What does a Freshman Moderator do?

Homeroom Moderators attend Thursday morning Officer/Moderator
Meetings. Freshman Moderators & Officers (once they are elected) will
meet in room S2 at 7:30? a.m. for these meetings.,

Moderators should be at all Class Meetings and help the students run
these. Moderators are also encouraged to attend Freshment Orientation and
Freshmen Welcome Mass, Freshmen Parent Orientation, Freshmen Mother and
Daughter and the Srping Incoming Freshmen Welcome. Freshmen usually meet in
the Gym for their class meeting. These are placed on the Monthly Calendar so
you will know when they are happening. A mircrophone might be needed for this
meeting, arrange for your officers to sign one out from the Library.

Homeroom Responsibilities:
Take attendance each morning fill out the attendance sheet and
deliver it to the front office after homeroom, check uniforms, make
announcements (you will receive a monthly calendar -- go over the
events on this with the class, especially those that effect them), and
handout papers that come in your mailbox to be given to the girls. You can now
email attendance to Patty Feltz. Planner inserts have the weekly schedules.
Typically they are in moderator mailboxes on Thursday after school. Pick
someone to lead morning prayer in homeroom on Wednesday mornings. Get the
girls to listen to the morning show -- in some rooms you must turn the monitor
and TV on in order to get the morning show.
You should arrange to get some bulletin board space in homeroom to
put up announcements. Freshman Homerooms will get things like
cafeteria menus, announcements, etc.

As a Freshman Moderator one needs to help the Freshmen feel
comfortable, be the source of all sorts of minuscule information that
others in the school take for granted -- for example: What does smart
casual mean?; What does late-start or assembly schedule mean for
the students? What is a dress down day? Can they wear costumes for
Halloween? What happens if you don't sell your calendars during the
calendar sales and all other classes do? -- They will be in school with
you and others will be off; (**Talk to the Freshman Moderators who
have done this before and get some tips on what kinds of things fall
through the cracks because everyone thinks it is a known fact.)

As a class moderator, one is expected to sit with his/her class during
assemblies and to be present and part of the activities during things
like Hey Day, Founder's Day Field Activiities, etc.)

Homeroom teachers will be expected to organize and handle the
students in her homeroom for Calendar Sales -- handing out and
keeping track of the Calendars each student receives and making sure
the money turned in and calendars sold or not sold all match up and
are turned in. The same is true for the Freshman Raffle sales.

Freshman Moderators will need to help train his/her class officers.

The Homeroom is responsible for gathering and delivering food and
clothing and toys during the Coat, Food, and Toy Drives that happens a
couple of times during the year.

There will be Penny Queen during Shout Week. And there will be a
basket for the Auction that is donated and organized by
your homeroom. Collect money for any other fund raisers like Dress
Down Days (* often an envelop is placed in your mailbox for the
collection and it can be turned into the main office with attendance.) that
happen during the school year that involves the students in your
homeroom.

What regular activities is this class responsible for? (**Please get
details from the Head Moderator.) Moderators should attend these events.
--Freshman/Sophomore Orientation in August.
--Freshmen Family Welcome Mass in August.
--Parents/Freshman Liturgy
--Hey Day
--Incoming Freshman Welcome in April --A pizza party

What do Class Moderators do?

the student officers run these. See your head moderator for the time and
location of your class' meeting.

All class moderators are expected to be attend the activities sponsored by the
class they are moderatoring. Moderators should sit with their class during
assemblies and be present and part of the activities during things like Hey
Day, Founders' Day Field activities, etc.

All Class Moderators are encouraged to attend events held for their class,
like Mother/Daugher.
Class Moderators are also Homeroom Moderators. Homeroom responsibilities
include taking attendance each morning and filling out the attendance sheet or
emailing attendance to Pati Feltz. If you do not email attendance, you should
deliver it to the front office immediately after homeroom. Homeroom teachers

homeroom properly attired. Check your mailboxes each morning before homeroom

later are typically in the moderator's mailbox on Thursday after school. You
will also receive information and items to be delivered to members of your
homeroom as well as menus from the Caferteria and other handouts. The school
has ongoing activities sponsored by various groups which will require you to
collect donations. There will be daily prayer and announcements and it is the
task of the Moderator to train his/her homeroom to listen quietly to the
morning show and an anyone who has announcements to make to them. Wednesday
is a late start day for the students and it is also the day when students
should lead prayer in homeroom, rather than listen to someone leading prayer
on the morning show. Choose a method of assigning prayer for this day.

Moderators' responsibilities increase with the class level as the classes have
more and bigger activities as they go through each year.

Feltz. To reserve a room for outside the school day, please give your request
to Pat Garner.

What are the School's Weekend Hours? Weekday hours?

Please be aware that you may not enter the building when the alarms are set.

Please check the front door for the alarm sign. Make sure that it is not up
before entering. Please only use the front door for entering and leaving the
building on the weekends. Do this only after checking to see that the alarm is

Please sign yourself in and out.

On the weekend the alarm is turned off around 8:00 a.m. on Saturday and about
